Save 4 litres every time you flush!

in Water bills
If like me your water is metered and you're constantly battling to keep the cost down then here's an easy way to save some money for less then £2.00. The hippo water saver is a small device which you install into your toilet cistern, it actually saves you 4 litres of water every time you flush. So if you add that up over a period of one day, your talking a bath of water or 10% of the water that you use in a day.
It's a great invention and once you install it you can forget about it, I have a couple of friends who actually do this to unsuspecting friends cisterns. It really does make a difference and it makes a big difference when the quarterly bill lands on the door mat. You can buy them from a number of online retailers including !!!!!!

But I do think they should be issued as standard to all homes in hose pipe ban and water restricted areas!

We got these free from Thames Water - they sent us loads.
Trouble is, our cisterns are too small for them!

A brick in the cistern also does the same0

You could always save on flushing the toilet. Could do a fair amount of number 1's before you need to flush

Thames Water gave me two things - a Hippo, and for a smaller cistern a pack of crystals that absorb water and cause a 'water brick'. You save less water, but for a small cistern you probably don't want to use that much less or else the loo won't be clean after a flush. The crystals are available free on their website to anyone, you don't have to be just in the Thames area.0 -
You guys obviously don't live in a new Redrow property. 1 flush very rarely does the job !
