Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back from capital one? I applied for this card last week and was not given instant decision. It said if we need any more information we will notify you within 7-10 days.

I applied online on a Saturday evening, got an email through saying everything was approved on the Monday afternoon - at least, I think it said that, it definitely said "thanks for your app, your PIN and credit card will be in the post shortly" and I don't think I'd been told on the Saturday that it had been approved for sure.

    Hope that helps!

Also for the record the card in the post and the PIN arrived very quickly too - nothing like 2 weeks (10 working days). They also let me activate the secondary card holder's card even though it literally hadn't arrived yet (I had my own card come throgh, plus both the PINs).

All in all a decent service. I'm using it to credit score build too (I don't plan to have the card in a couple of years, put it that way). Still, can't fault them so far.

One of the ways to rebuild bad credit history is to take on more credit.

Moneysavingexpert.com's founder Martin Lewis says some new cards, like Capital One, give customers with limited county court judgements or defaults a 0% interest rate for the first six months.

He told Radio 5 live's Dominic Laurie how it works.
