Advice Required RAC & local Garage Nightmare!

Thank you all who have offered up good advice.
Well, we managed to get the car back from BMW after paying them £601. This was the cost of labour and thingy chain. Had car towed to a garage about 10 miles away and they are going to charge us £1,200 to put in a reconditioned engine. They picked up the car from BMW. BMW first said we couldn't take the car until we paid £1,130 .... after half an hour of negotiations, we got the price down to £885.
Then an hour later, a walk-out by me, my husband telling the manager upon his enquiring where I had gone, that I was outside in tears, we got the price down to £600.
So, one day, all fine. The next, we have forked out near to £800 at two garages and the car (still not fixed) is on its way to a third garage to have a new engine put in. Happy days!0
