Revoked redundancy... again and again....**Update**

Oh dear - we are not really getting further forward although for some striking reason that escapes me, everyone thinks we are. Your HR are really expert at mealy mouthed weasel words.
You notice is PILON - so it still hasn't been served. And look what has been slipped into the written confirmation...
Further to our meeting today we have agreed to review your continued employment on a weekly basis but on 22 November, in the absence of any other arrangement, …..
I will re-date the compromise agreement 25 November 2011 and your employment will terminate on that date. Just to clarify as well that the payment under the compromise agreement will not be paid to you if your employment should terminate for any reason other than that agreed between us. …..
And pray tell - what was the "reason agreed between you" - because I thought your employment was ending because you are redundant, and that isn't exactly an agreement - I presume you didn't suggest that they make you redundant?
I forwarded this to my Solistor who said
What you have arranged is fine…..
They all seemed to think I was causing a stir. but at least they have now agreed I can leave to my other job but have allowed the flexability to work longer. …..
I sincerely hope this is the case, but at the very least I don't think they are doing you any favours, and I do not trust them or what they are saying as far as I can throw them. There appears, based on what you are saying here, too much scope for interpretation. And I really do not like that.
Or are they blowing smoke up my…..
I honestly don't know - but I distrust the whole way this has been and is being handled. That may be just my cynical view of employers in general - but yesterday they were telling you a very different story, and somehow I just can't get those weasel words to say only what you think they say....
I think that I would be advising that you put in writing again that you have told them that you reject the job (whatever it is) as a suitable alternative position because it is lower paid, and that as a favour to them you have agreed to remain in employment until (whatever date) at which time they have agreed that you will be made redundant at that time. I am still not comfortable with this, but it is the best you can do to protect your back.0 -
You have rejected their job as a suitable alternative within the four week period - so why are you working until 22 November

To OP - you said that you fired off an e-mail voicing your concerns. Have you actually rejected the alternative job as not being suitable? If you are not sure or ar in doubt - do it again (better to tell them twice rather than they wriggle out and claim that they were not told at all).
Please, please take the advice that has been given and write to them (not e-mail, text or twitter or whatever) as SarEl has been saying - you have an extremely limited timeframe to do this.
If I were you, I would reject your current role (now/today) and leave, and not work until the 22nd of November - just so that there is no possible confusion that it may be argued that by your actions you accepted the alternative job.
Then collect your redundancy money, and start your new job.
Do not trust what HR say. They may not know, or from the evidence of their second e-mail they do know what they are doing - and it isn't in your favour.0 -
Hi Tygermoth,
I hope that things are working out for you.
Are you able to tell us what has happened ?0 -
Good morning all,
Sorry for the late reply. I need quite a while to formulate a response and things have been manic.
Well as of today I am unemployed with my CA in force and redundancy intact.
Things came to ahead yesterday when I found out that another co worker (who had also be revoked at the last minute and moved too) had been suspended for what seemed a extremely minor indiscretion. The second one had been pushed out and left because they couldn’t cope. Leaving just me.
Then suddenly one of the senior managers had a proper go at me yesterday afternoon (for something i had utterly no control over) and I realised I could be on a very slippery slope. At three o’clock the manager in question called a meeting with me at four to discuss some ‘issues’.
I excused myself to the loo and was immediately on the phone to HR and my Sol within seconds. I advised my month extension was due to complete and it was month end so I would go as of now. They both agreed. HR sent me an email confirming I was free and clear. Sol confirmed all the details were spot on. By 1545 it was a done deal and I had formal notification that I was no longer an employee, that my redundancy remained intact and would be settled. Just in time to go into that meeting.
The manager began to launch into some serious trumped up role related issues in the meeting............ when I advised it was not my problem as I did not work for the company any more. It felt good
So all done. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Glad to hear it all worked out for you Tygermoth (at quarter to 4 on the final day !!).0
