I'd got a win there for a Models Own Nail Buffer, it was from September, so fingers crossed. Thanks for pointing that out.

thank you for this....just checked messages and there was a winning one there but the deadline to claim was 15th october, still messaged them...you never no. Will check it more frequently now i know :j

Just to be aware, the recent changes to Facebook seem to mean that any Inbox messages you receive from those outside your friends list (e.g. individual competition promoters from pages you like) now don't pop up in your notifications. They're now combined with what used to be 'updates' - messages sent from pages or groups.

You'll need to go to Inbox in the sidebar, and then click on the 'other' from the drop-down that pops up from there in order to see these messages. Some pages make their comps announcement to all members via the 'updates' function, too.

I found I'd won a night in a 4 star London Marriot 3 weeks before after googling my own name - thankfully they let me have it and understood how easy it was to miss the messages, but I'm sure others might not be so lucky!

Hi, I think most of the messages you have all found were sent before the Facebook changes and that the only messages that will now be found in your "other" messages box are from friends. This definitely applies to me anyway, its been ages since I received any messages apart from the odd person asking me to vote (very annoying). I hope I am wrong but dont think so.

To the poster who missed out on the Tea perfume, this smells pretty awful, I won one too and am using it for work, I also won the stopper which arrived this weekend and have not tried it out yet. I think both of these may send you the prize if you contact them, worth a go anyway.

Does this mean that we cant get messages sent directly to us when we win?

I think that is the other way round, only friends go in messages all the rest go in other.

By default, anyone on Facebook can send you a message, and if you set up a Facebook email address, anyone outside of Facebook can send you email. Email from friends and their friends goes directly to your main Messages folder, and everything else goes to the Other folder within your Messages.

Facebook made this change a while ago but sadly never told any of the users. I found out about it from another forum.

mjm is correct, any message from Friends goes into your inbox. Any messages from people who are not on your friends list or companies goes into "other" and for the ones that go into "other" you do not get an email notification.

Yes, think I did get it the wrong way SORRY but still dont think any messages from other companies are going into "other" like they did before. This could of course be because I havent won anything, but previously there were always the few odd messages but now none.
