Facebook wins & your inbox

I just wanted to bring something to your attention if you enter Facebook comps - sorry if it's already been brought up, but it saved me losing out on a prize and a twitter friend found 3 she'd missed.

Just to be aware, the recent changes to Facebook seem to mean that any Inbox messages you receive from those outside your friends list (e.g. individual competition promoters from pages you like) now don't pop up in your notifications. They're now combined with what used to be 'updates' - messages sent from pages or groups.

You'll need to go to Inbox in the sidebar, and then click on the 'other' from the drop-down that pops up from there in order to see these messages. Some pages make their comps announcement to all members via the 'updates' function, too.

I found I'd won a night in a 4 star London Marriot 3 weeks before after googling my own name - thankfully they let me have it and understood how easy it was to miss the messages, but I'm sure others might not be so lucky!

Thanks so much for the tip. I have relied on MSE mates to tell me if they spot my name!

I can't find my "inbox" though - how do I get to that, please?

oh thanks for that!! I've just found loadsa messages that I never knew I had!! sadly no wins in there though!

thanks for this found a LOT of messages I didn't know I had...sadly for me 2 of them were winning emails, one of them for a bottle of elizabeth arden green tea perfume but that was from back in June so doubt I'll be getting that now and the other one is a bottle stopper from september so not sure about that one either! At least I know that the message folder exists now!

yes you always need to check other messages i lost a win form back in april only a small win so now check every day

Facebook terms and conditions state that companies are not supposed to notify winners via facebook but a lot still do. I check mine daily but don't do many facebook comps anyway but always worth checking
