An employer is charging their employees for the pleasure of going to work for them???

The NHS have been doing this for years.

Not quite the same I don't think. Unless they are charging crews to park the ambulance.

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

    Do what the PPCs do.

Invoice the company for your costs. Of course you would have to pay the fee first. You can claim expenses in your job, right?

Also, it is my responsibility to park my car so if I am spending work time trying to park I would have to make this time up or be disciplined.
Is this actually stated in your written contract? If not, then given they would not know how long you spent on your visit and how long you spent in traffic, the onus would be on them to prove how long you were on the premises and circled around looking for a space.

It was an off the cuff reply to the post I quoted and not really aimed at the OP. FWIW I can't see how the employer can legaly charge an employee for parking when the employer requires that employee to use his car for company business.

  • I don't think that your company could legally clamp you but it might be worth posting on pepipoo just to make sure. It would be funny to see a company clamping all the cars and then the staff not being able to go to work.
