I've just opened a NPB after a person sent me an offer on 8 items for £1.00 each but no payment - after 5 days I sent a polite email requesting payment rather than just opening a case straight away anyway I got a reply last night saying 'changed my mind sorry to bother u'

Needless to say I emailed her straight back to say that you send an offer with a commitment to buy and that I would have to either open a mutual or a NPB to claim back my fees. No response so opened the claim - am fully waiting for her to pay then claim INR, neg me and hit my stars but I 'think/hope' I've enough feedback and high ratings to take it and teach her that you can't just mess people around.

Part of me thinks that I'm being pedantic for 80p worth of FVF's but it's the blooming point!

The strikes seem to be a bit meaningless, tbh. I've had several buyers approach me with, "I can't seem to buy your item, because I have too many NPB strikes, but I promise I will pay straight away this time, blah, blah, blah..." I ignore them, but then lo and behold, a new buyer appears and buys the item anyway. I do have my buyer preferences set to exclude new/low feedback buyers without a credit card on file, so that wards off some of them, but in general it seems that if you get too many NPB strikes, just open a new eBay account and away you go - so no wonder buyers don't fear them.

Ive never understood why a seller would block someone without a credit card on file. People who don't sell don't need a card on file - so your blocking a heck of a lot of buyers. I block people without paypal though.

Ebay used to take NP bidders seriously and throw them off. Not any more - its a money spinner, as the listing fees are not refunded. Thats millions a year in the bank. Rumour as it that soon sellers wont even be able to file a NPB - as bidders will be allowed to just change their minds.

Had my first NPB this week.
I posted another thread about it.
My settings are set to not allow people with 2 NPBs, but this was a new buyer.
Basically the buyer seemed to be confused with the new "shopping basket" on ebay, as when I chased payment they said they couldn't figure out how to remove these items.
On me replying to them explaining they had committed to buy, they responded with:
"no im not get lost i dnt want it so u cnt forse me hahahahahaha! I DONT WANT IT i bidid cuz it looks nice and I WAS GOING TO BUY IT BUT IM NOT ha! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!"

    meh

    Bidder blocked.

Case now closed - out of interest do any of you bother leaving a feedback comment?
It'd be a fals positive obviously, so I'm not sure if its worth doing, other than to try to warn other sellers.

Are we allowed to name 'buyers' like this on here? I had an absolute doozie last week. From America 'how dare you charge $x to post this? You are a disgrace etc etc'. I replied that $x was the current item price, and that the postage charge was $y. Reply was 'if you are offering this to buy it now for $y I might be interested, but I hope you are not using Euros or something to confuse honest buyers because I for one have never heard of them'.

Blocked, obviously. She has the most wonderfully appropriate user name you have ever heard.

I block buyers without a credit card on file because it does cut down on NPBs - because it's a form of ID. Otherwise anyone can join with fake name and address and "buy up" all a competitor's items to close their listings. Sadly, I have had it happen to me in the past. eBay don't want to know, and it cost me time and money to relist, plus missed sales. Now I like to now who my buyers "really" are. I'm sure that it's a rare thing but once bitten, twice shy and all that. I keep an eye on my buyer requirements log, and don't think I lose that many sales.

No, it's not worth risking your own account with a false positive. I got a warning this week for leaving the comment "Did pay for 1 out of 2" which apparently is still not positive enough! Lesson learnt!

if you did NPB and the case closed, you can't leave feedback anyway.
