He can't claim DLA until he has come out of hospital either as nurses would be providing his care and there's no mobility needs.

ESA may be appropriate but unsure due to dates wether it would be contributions or income based.

Ok so yesterday my partner had a motorcycle accident and broke his back.
He is self employed, has been self employed for around 12 months but was full time employed before this for 3 years.
He lives with his parents and is 22 years old, completely unable to work as hes lying in a hospital bed.
I am worrying about money and need to find out what we need to look into to claim for.
I do not live with him, his parents are both employed.
Will he be entitled to ESA and DLA? He has been told itll be around 3-4 months he could be off as he is a shop fitter and has a very manual job.
He has worked since the age of 16 so I hope he can get a little something back!!
I have a million and one phone calls to make and I'm sure people to do with directgov wont speak to me as I'm not a claimant.
    Hope someone can help!!!!
    Thankyou anyway
hope he makes a good speedy recovery. Try phoning the Benefits Enquiry Line on 0800 882 200. They are not there to judge you and dont hold any personal records about anyone. They are merely benefit advisors. Think they are open from 8.30am to 6.30pm Mon to Fri. x
