Newark Car Auctions Nottingham any Good?

A lot of sensible stuff written here now. Being honest it was always a numbers game with me, I bought stuff that I could shift very quickly with little work.
I personally know one trader who's taking 10k a month profit from buying at Newark, but he has an MOT garage and so that's where his value comes from.
Auction prices have gone up on older stuff as more people try and become part time traders.
The late plate stuff and the odd high spec cars tend to be good value.
Like I said before though, it's not a place for the average punter, but I would same the same for all auctions. BCA will kill you on fees, you are better off going to a supermarket on the last day of the month.
And finally if something looks too good to be true it always is, I lost my hat on an M3 convertible with more problems than, well you know0 -
4afe - Some very sound and helpful advice there, however in my experience and having previously purchased shed loads from there - Most cars were there for a reason and if allowances are made then its feasible, and YES there is the occasional bargain, but you obviously know what your buying and what to look for, but Joe public wouldn't necessarily have that "magic eye". I am just saying its a very high stakes environment and not for the faint hearted.
Agreed, most cars have an amount of common problems that the garages don't want to fix. For example there are usually 2 or 3 Peugeot diesels that go through every sale. The 307 / 407 /308 are nice cars but all suffer from particulate filter problems, these can be a nightmare.
Mondeo tdci on the face of it a great car, but for a ford difficult and expensive to fix etc
The trick you need to pull off is buying stock that is pretty clear of faults that the dealers don't want, but that the public will buy.
I always did well with 4x4's, big Mercedes and BMW's and any estate with a diesel engine and for a while really awful coloured Puntos, students loved them, I was making £800 a time. Happy days.0 -
Never heard so much rubbish, you obviously don't know what your talking about. Reserves are set by the owners of the cars, if you had a car in that you thought was worth £1000 and they rung you with a bid of £500 what would you say. Staff are under pressure from vendors and have to keep them happy. Best auction, best staff. There's an auctioneer called Anthony green, really nice bloke very friendly. Forget the rest, go to Newark. Sorry this was my response to earlier post.0

Work colleague went a few weeks ago. Bought a 1999 BMW 328i (sport?) in mint condition, 10 months MOT, full leather, full main dealer history for........£100. Shame about the RFL cost..... It was a dealer p/ex and was not deemed good enough for resale (at that age I understand..).'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -

This thread is nearly two years old you retard. I'm assuming you're Anthony Green or at least his boyfriend to be so keen on him?0 -
so we got there in the end as i knew we would
you actually work there albeit under a different name
im pleased to hear that bawtry has upped its game because i stopped going there a long long time ago because of the way it was run
what position do you have there as im sure i read a few weeks back they are moving out of the corner to bigger better premises
i liked the cafe though
Quite the investigative journalist aren't we? Try reading the post again.marryalison wrote: »You are right, I have bought and sold at Newark. They, Bawtry,
Nottm and Derby are all very professional these days. i think the Arfur Daley days are gone. What's worse, paying 1000 for a car in auction that's knackered, or 2500 for the same car on a forecourt whose warranty excludes nearly everthing. Retail mark up is huge and we all make our own choice. Its just not right presuming the auction house is dodgy just because it suits the story.
Marryalison is as far as I read the post a motor trader, not necessarily someone who is employed by the auction house.
Are you suspicious, or just malicious?0 -

Where do I collect my £20 for mentioning Newark Auctions & Bawtry on social medis?0
