Dont go through your own insurance, inform them, which you have to do and say its for Information Only.

Go directly through her insurance, she has admitted liability.

Her insurnance will give you instructions (by the way, you can take your car to whereever you want to have it fixed)

They should say 'take it for a quote'

Garage contacts them with a quote and then they instruct the garage to carry out the repairs.

Insurance company should sort you a car hire out

Organise with the garage to have your car booked in

    Get it mended

    Take it home.

    Your involvement should stop there.

Garage sends bill to insurance company and insurance company pays it.

It really is as simple as that.

Involve your IS to do everything for you and it can be long and protractive.

Are you sure? I did not make a claim. She did. My NCB was not affected.
The question you'll be asked is "have you had any accident or claim in the last x years regardless of fault?"

The truthful answer to that question is, as the other poster says, yes.

You were involved in an incident that resulted in the claim.

If you decided you weren't bothered about getting the car fixed there would have been no claim.

NCB has nothing to do with fault.

So yes, the answer to both is yes.

If is goes pear shaped and you have a witness then tell insurance

    maybe get a witness statement

Some people think its cheap it isnt cheap for bodyshop. I had old car done just before 1st accident (hit n run and I replaced wing because of rust coming from inside) friend of a friend did it and it still costs over £300 for new front wing panel front wing and respray this isnt even with blending the paint which costs even more. Car is metallic ford focus

Thankyou for the advice everyone, I am gonna see what she says later today when she calls back and then may go down the e-mail route.

I really am panicking about my insurance going up though if I go through them and she suddenly decides to say she wasn't at fault? I wasn't at the vehicle when it happened, and I have a witness who was walking to the car park with me and saw the kafuffle around my car who can back me up with that. But the other witnesses I dont know and were her work colleagues.

It will probably go up anyway, because that's what's happening wth insurance these days.

It will probably go up more because of the incident, regardless of who takes the blame or pays up.

It is correct, whether you made a claim or not, it was still an 'incident'

Some companies do raise premiums and some do not.

Ive had 2 non fault incidents in 18 months and neither of them affected my policies.

    CIS and Aegis

Ask your insurance company if it will affect your premium.

I get the impression you're a little more....................... mature than the OP, which might make quite a difference ;)

If I say Yes to both questions my insurance will go up dramatically!!! So I will be penalised for someones fault!!

People, it doesn't matter if it wasn't your fault, your insurance will still go up. A van slid into my car during the snow of last year (I was stationery). The van driver's company admitted liability and paid up through the insurance, my premium still went up.

I tried an online insurance quote, did it without saying the accident an then went back and added the accident, the quote was £20 more expensive. The reasoning is that people who have accidents even when it isn't their fault, are more likely to be involved in accident and one day it will be their fault to the other party will deny responsibility and it will be a 50/50 claim.

As for the poster thinking about not telling their insurance company, they love that sort of thing. Because when you come to claim, they look for anyway that they can get out of paying and if you've lied then your insurance is void. You may get away with it and they might find you out.
