  • it was my sisters laptop originally & she got fed up & bought a new one. Its no more than 3 yrs old.

    If it doesn't need a new mobo now, it will after they've looked at it!
    Take it back to the original 'repairer' and tell him to sort it out, he cannot charge you if he has misdiagnosed the problem and fitted a new hard drive for no reason.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
