Their customer service is probably even harder to get to answer if you're not a customer so I'd rather make sure August gets charged right first.
the number 0800 012 11 77
They are based in Londonderry.
There is a thread on Budget energy, you might get some useful info there.0 -
my alarm goes off too when I run outnirelandguy wrote: »We switched from Power NI about a month ago, when we were with them £10 did us exactly a week, then maybe another day of emergency, with Airtricity is does us 5 days then another day emergency, and something odd with Airtricty is when we run out the house alarm goes of, it never did this with Power NI, you can't buy a top up online and our local shop doesn't do Airtricity, i've found its only larger shops do it, everyone did Power NI.
Might switch back to Power NI, anyone else have these issues?Jesus is alive!!!0 -
It is normal for alarms to go off when there is a power outage for any reason.
I live in an area which is supplied by overhead cables and the power goes off 2 or 3 times a year. If I stand outside during a power cut, I can hear alarms going off, all around the area.0 -
Anyone signed up for the meter reading reminder service on Airtricity? When I got my September bill it was for £4 as my estimated meter reading was the same as my reading at the end of July. I would have submitted a reading but was trusting that signing up for their five days before reminder email service meant they would actually send me the email.....not so!
Sent them an email pointing this out and clarifying that I didn't expect to pay for my August/September electricity at the new price from 1st October rate, nor at only 8% discount (1st year of contract ended mid-October). Their response re: my next bill: "if we have over estimated you it will be rectified on this bill", so obviously no interest in actually reading the detail of a complaint.
Anyway, will wait to see what the next bill looks like and then probably switch to budget.
Exactly the same for me last year - no reminders at all after numerous emails and phone calls so every bill was an estimate. Also, only had the option of getting bills every other month - this may have changed now - which is annoying when every one is an estimate.
Gave up with them and transferred to budget with a monthly bill.
Not sure who is cheaper now with all the price changes but at least I get to speak to someone at budget when I want to query something and I haven't had an estimated bill!0 -
.Dont know if this has any relevance but she went away last week for a weeks holiday and had £3 something in her prepay meter. When she came back she had 79p left. She doesnt know how this happened. She is going to keep an eye on it to see if it happens again. It seems like you are only getting half the amount of electricity than you were before.
That's the standing charge, not someone breaking in and taking a long shower!
I know it's old but only just saw it.0 -
The reason why alarms keep going of is probably the system does not have a battery back up. My alarm system just changes to the battery backup when I run out of electric.
Very interested in this budget electric. I am with Power NI and I uses around £25 per week. Bear in mind my wife and I are out working full time Monday to Friday and we just be in the house in the evenings from 6/7 and at the weekends.
We do use the tumble dryer most days but it has increased something shocking from the announcement that Power NI were reducing costs.
I have a key pad meter and the unit price says something like 14.9p odds. Is this correct?
Going to look at budget electric later.0 -
Interesting conversation outside B&Q with Airtricity sales team.
In answer to their question told them still on Power NI and Phoenix (Airtricity) - so told me if they could ring me today and get meter reading they could move me onto Airtricity.
I asked how they compared once 2 year discount period was over - she said they would quote a rate and I could accept or move - didn't say whether it would be cheaper than Power NI.
THEN - she told me how much better off I would be in January 2013 when Airtricity introduce their dual fuel deal, but could not tell me what it was.
However I said - I am considering moving to Firmus - its cheaper for gas.
Oh well she said - that's OK - you could go ahead and move your gas to Firmus and then in January when the dual fuel offer comes out you could change back!!
Then I left her, explaining that I was having solar panels fitted and would be reviewing my suppliers and their rates once that was done and dusted - but I had to smile at her Firmus suggestion.
I bet Airtricity would have smiled too??John0 -
