Hi,
Could any one tell me if it is possible to block internet access to one computer in my house?
The reason is because my sister is constantly on the internet and I would like to be able to control how much time she spends on the net without having to turn off the router. Myself and my boyfriend would like to still be able to use it when we wish.
My internet is password protected but my sister's laptop connects automatically. I dont want to take her laptop off her as it was a gift from her grandma and she may need it for home work.
can anyone help? I have looked on the internet for a solution but it looks too complicated for me!!
Thanks!!

If you can access your routers admin panel you can set MAC address filtering.
Each network adaptor has its own unique ID which is a MAC address, on the MAC address filter you enter yours and the boyfriends MAC addresses. For standard use, you just leave the filtering disabled but when you want her to do something other than use the internet, you set the filter to 'allow' and only the MAC addresses (yours and the boyfriends) in the authorised list, will be able to access it.0 -

Thank you so much for your help, but how do I know if i can access my router admin panel? and how do I find my mac address??
sorry, I really dont know much about computers!!0 -
You need to give the actual make and model of the router-not just 'Sky wireless'. If it's a branded Sky one then it'll be shown on the rear or base.
The address is usually something like http://192.168.1.1
Once the make and model is known, someone can advise the default username and password.

I have studied my router. It says manufactured by D-Link, it doesn't say what model. Sorry.
I have managed to access my router admin with a similar address to the one above. Just seeing if I can work out what to do now....0 -

If you can access her laptop, you could do worse than install K9 Web Protect. This will allow you to define what sites (and/or types of sites) she can access. It also allows you to define WHEN she can access the net.0

That's the trouble with Sky routers they have a very basic interface with few options
One way would be to use the firewall rules
First make sure sisters laptop is on
sign in to router page 192.168.0.1 admin/sky unless you've changed them
Go to Maintenance attached devices and note the IP Address of laptop (probably 192.168.0.3)
Then to Security tab Firewall rules under Outbound Services select Add
On Service select Any(All)
Action BLOCK by schedule,otherwise allow
WAN Users select single address and enter the IP Address noted earlier in both start/finish box Apply
Go to Schedule select Every Day or the days you want the schedule to run enter start/finish times(24hrClock) Apply
The Firewall rules will kick in when the scheduled time arrives and all access from the noted IP Address will be blocked0 -
Can't you just change the password and reenter it on the laptops you'll be using ?0
