Easyjet golf equipment baggage allowance

Hi
Please could someone advise me of Easyjet's baggage allowance with regard to golf clubs. We flew today with 5 people (2 adults, 2 children and an infant) and I'd booked 3 hold bags and 2 golf bags. Our 3 bags were 17, 17 and 18 kilos and our golf bags weighed 20 and 17 kilos so a total of 89 kilos. I thought we'd have plenty of allowance with so many passengers all booked together (I realise the baby gets nothing) but Easyjet tried to charge us for 6 kilos of excess baggage. By the time the last golf bag was weighed, everything else had gone and they wouldn't / couldn't get it back so we had to redistrubuted the weight (golf balls and shoes in my handluggage, half my husband's clubs in my brother's bag on a BA flight.)
I've tried reading the small print on the Easyjet website but am none the wiser. Have emailed them but not expecting a swift response and need to know the answer to this for the next trip!
Cheers

Don't think redistributing would have helped in any way.
From their site http://www.easyjet.com/en/planning/baggage.html
So 3 x hold bags @ 20kgs allowance = 60kgs
2 Sports equipment @ 12kgs = 24kgs so total is 84kgs of allowance....if you have 89kgs then they should have charged you for 5kgs not 60 -
Thank you. You're right re the maths, it was only 5 kg - seemed to fluctuate everytime we weighed everything! It certainly makes sense from the Easyjet website but I've seen lots of references on this site to the 20kgs being people's 'weight per passenger allowance' so I thought we could have 4 x 20kg in three bags = 80kg and then two x 12kgs of golf allowance = 24. Total 104kgs?0

I also can't find that link on the current Easyjet site anywhere! I may well be being stupid as the site isn't that user friendly. Is it possible it's out of date?0

can't see the sports goods and it is not really clear (to me) what your total should have been for the baggage! It says Minimum of 1 hold bag per passenger is required to trigger the baggage allowance of 20kg so it may be that you get 20kgs for each of the passengers you added bags to and nothing for the others0 -
The biggest confusion seems to be about the sports equipment (I can't post a link as a newbie but it's snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=73430.) Not sure how old that thread / link is either... I am hoping to get an email back from easyjet saying one person plus sports equip can take 32kgs and then I'll just produce that next time anyone disagrees!0

Interesting post you linked to and seems to agree with my first link - 1 adult with no checked bag and sports equipment gets 32kgs but 1 adult that has 1 checked bag and sports equipment also gets 32kgs - if you had assigned the sports equipment to one of the passengers that did not have a bag assigned to them you may have a case, if the skis were assigned to the same people as the bags then probably not0

Yes makes sense. I booked everyone together so no assigning bags to specific people. Something they need to clarify on their website and with their check in staff as no one seems clear on the rules! I'll post the reply I get from them. Cheers0
