Stupid parking restriction - reason to challenge?

                    Hi,
I got a parking ticket today (4th ever I think), when I parked on a single yellow with restricted hours. Lots of people park there regularly, as have I in the past, to nip into local shops. There was a clear sign explaining the restrictions, which I didn't notice, so I am not challenging on that. What I would like to challenge on is the reason for the restriction. By parking there, no access to anything at all is blocked. It appears to be a complete senseless restriction, which only serves to actively discourage people from shopping in the area.
What I wish to know is, is there a route to appeal the ticket based on the fact that the restiction itself is senseless? The ticket was issued in Scotland, by local council wardens.
Thanks.

None , whatsoever, I'm afraid. What may seem senseless to you, may seem perfectly reasonable to others and vice versa.
As long as there is a Traffic Regulation Order in place for that road, then you will no have no grounds for appealing against the restrictions themselves.0 -
Frequent infringement is no defence. What seems senseless to you may seem reasonable to others, e.g. cyclists in the door zone or pedestrians.
I see where you are coming from, but there is seriously absolutely no reason to stop people parking there.
I have emailed the council department, in a perfectly reasonable tone, to ask why on earth access to such prime parking should be prevented.0 -

Could you show us by posting a google street maps link ?0 -

You might be absolutely correct to 1 million decimal places about the daftness of the restriction. But that doesn't alter the fact that its there and that you're liable to be ticketed for parking on it.
I'd be looking for technical ways to defeat this ticket if you were that bothered, via pepipoo perhaps, rather than going down this particular rabbit hole.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

I was parked where the Volvo is.
Edit: Might not be a volvo. The green/blue thing infront of the purple fiesta.0 -

I'm not *that* bothered I suppose, just rather bewildered. I'll check the site, thanks.0 -

Then let the council know of your opinion and see if you can have them change it
don't park there knowing your breaking the rules then cry about it when the ticketer does his job correctly.
I have to agree though, it doesn't seem to pose any danger to anything. Maybe its for logistical reasons0 -

On the face of it, quite difficult to see why there would be a restrictions there !
Is there a pay for Council car park nearby perchance ?
They could just be trying to maximise their revenue !!0 -
It looks a mess of old lines. On both sides of the road, the single yellows stop and start and there's even a non-lined disabled 'bay'. And of course the obligatory CEO walking along...
OP I would post your pics on pepipoo, worth a try:
