No ESA because of War Pension?

I think the problem is that the allowance for a "Lowered Standard of Occupation" can not be paid with ESA
"Allowance for lowered standard of occupation
This is similar to reduced earnings allowance in the Industrial Injuries scheme and is paid up to the same maximum rate of £58.32 a week. It is paid if your pensioned disablement is assessed at 40% or more and you are unable to follow your regular occupation or to do work of an equivalent standard because of your war pensioned disablement. You must be under age 65 when you claim, but once awarded it can be paid after age 65. This allowance plus your basic war pension cannot add up to more than the 100% rate pension.
You cannot get the allowance for the lowered Standard of Occupation at the same time as IB, ESA or Unemployability Supplement."

This would have been deducted from the previous IS award, so it should not make a difference.0

Transitional Protection means the amounts should stay the same on transfer of one benefit to the other.
That is unless the original IS award was wrong and the only discovered this and have now rectified it with a new award of the lower amount.0

Sorry I cant offer helpful advice but I do understand how frustrating it must be for you, my husband suffers from severe combat related PTSD and the war pension scheme is a nightmare to work through, he has just got a decision after 21 months of waiting and we are now waiting for payments to start and for over 2 years worth of back payments which seems to be taking them months to sort out as they have to work out the amount because of his ESA. he too is on ESA though quite how they expect someone to get a job when they cant actualy get out of the house on their own is beyond me!0

It is difficult to be sure based on the information given, but the most likely explanation is that your child premiums have been removed from your benefits, and you need to claim Child Tax Credits instead.
I met my wife thanks to my serving abroad so she is even more bewildered by The System than i am. She also has a hard enough time looking after the house, both kids who are also on the Autistic Spectrum, and myself. She is exhausted a lot of the time as it is, so it really wouldn't be fair on her.
I don't know if i should claim. The whole thing is a minefield and i am worried i might make things even worse by starting any new claims until this is sorted properly.
Every time i try to read up on one thing, it seems to contradict what other benefits say or doesn't seem applicable.0

War Pensions Welfare Service were pretty good at helping us with sorting things out and spotting all the mistakes. But the lady that used to see us only works part-time now. And with the influx of new guys from Afghanistan, Iraq etc. there must be a hell of a lot of folk to deal with now. I can't see the MoD funding any more staff either. They are bad enough when you are serving but once you leave, they really don't give a monkeys.
I did see a disability advisor at the DHSS a couple of years ago until they made it impossible for disabled users to get access to the building. :-/
I'm not sure what they expect me to do either. I'd love to have a job and a life again.
Thanks for the reply though. I also have PTSD, thankfully not severe though.0

I heard this too. I don't think the amounts of Income Support have ever been right for more than a few months and they have looked at it several times in the past. I'm fairly sure anything major would have been spotted long before now.0

Unfortunately they have just reduced the umber of staff at the Vererans and Personel agency and now many of them work from home too so it means you cant get hold of the directly any more, its just a never ending nightmare of trying to get what my husband is entitled to, he never goes off the property alone so that makes appointments hard too, I'm just a bit fed up with it all at the moment, he has served his country in 4 wars, rescued a fellow soldier from a minefield (this is one of the situations that re-occur in his nightmares) seen colleagues and children die in front of him and yet no one seems to care enough to ensure he and his have enough money to live on let alone for him to have any quality of life......0
