Cheapest Broadband??

I'm moving into a new flat soon, so am looking for a cheap broadband deal, but all the ones I can find seem to want you to pay for a phone line aswell, which I don't want.
I would consider getting a broadband/tv bundle deal if the offer was cheap, but really don't want a phone line. I only really use the internet for social networking, browsing and watching iplayer etc.
Anyone got any recommendations of cheap ones?? Or recommendations of who not to go with??
Thanks

You cannot have ADSL broadband without having a phone line.
Your options are Virgin Cable or Mobile broadband via phone or dongle.
Have a look at http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search to see which ISP's are available if you do decide to have a phoneline installed.0 -
Do you mean without a phone line or without paying additional line rental as you already have phone?0

Hi thanks for clearing the bit about switching phone (cheers daggy) if you check your exchange on the link i gave if its Market 3 Plusnet will do 10Gb Broadband for £6.49 pm (£10.79 M2 £12.99 M1) if you need more a 60Gb package is available from £11.49
Mobile broadband may be cheaper or not depending on network and speed also depends on signal strength0 -

Hi so far as switching your phone... make sure you are out of contract or your provider may charge you a hefty sum
If you go with sky line rentaltotal cost including unlimited bb is £22.25 per month
mobile broadband is when you buy a USB dongle that you plug into your laptop - it's usually more expensive and not as fast as adsl broadband; however you can plug it into your laptop anywhere in the UK and get internet (assuming there is a mobile signal of course).
One note on plusnet is that they actively manage a lot of traffic unless you purchase their top package - they also always manage p2p traffic.
Sky operate a neutral network; which means they don't slow down or manage traffic0 -
Mobile broadband is useless, forget it. I had a very good 3 mobile signal according to the checker and was about to buy a dongle when I won one...and it worked brilliantly for about 9 months, right now it is random and really not worth having. I have harassed 3 in every way possible and they admit they think it's a good coverage where I am, but lied many times about upgrades and work on masts etc. ..which weren't happening. To use the web regularly (not using video or high data sites) a 25 pound top up of 7 gigs just about lasts a month. Anywhere BUT my house the dongle works pretty well...useless for normal use.
An alternative way to access the web may be available to you depending on in you have a web enabled phone to check for wireless network strength. Much cheaper, usable just about anywhere, and a one off cost with no phone line needed. You need a relative or friend with decent broadband, and a FON router. Check for a BTFON wireless network where you are, there will be many around you (there are literally millions worldwide) it needs to be a strong signal though to use reliably. If it is, you can buy a FON router outright, get someone to plug it into their router and this entitles you to use ANY BTFON or FON hotspot worldwide. (I have 3 in my street). Here's a few links to useful info. :-

You just need a box for less than 50 quid, a mate to host it for you, and someone close with a BT Home hub (they are all enabled with this and part of the BTFON network but I bet most owners don't realise they can be sharing their bandwidth lol) ...and of course you can use any hotspot once you have a login and have registered your device

also if your an orange or o2 user you can get cheaper deals from them by linking your mobile account to your broadband deal.0
