warning!! to those who bought the pauls bits on ebay

  • People seem to forget, or perhaps don't realise that what is written down on these forums can be interperated in different ways. Each person will get a different vibe from a piece of written text and often the readers own frame of mind at that time can skew the intentions of the poster one way or another.

Surely if the original post about the bags was on Grabbit then the ideal place to post a warning about the validity of the deal is in the same place, either as a reply to the original deals thread or if it is more severe then as a seperate post. This way all of the people that purchased the deal should notice the warning and act on it accordingly.

I, like many others on this forum, now feel reluctant to post deals on this forum due to the nature of responses received from a small collective of people. These people seem to have made it their responsibility to jump on every slight mistake and point it out in a way that is likely to belittle the OP into never posting again.

    While in this case a line of ??????????????????????? is not really offensive, why could the post not have been something like;

Hi OP, I'm not aware of the pink bags deal, can you provide me with some more information or a link?

    Or

Hi OP, Unfortunately this should not really be on the Grabbits board, would you mind deleting it and posting it in the {relevant forum name} forum?

Both of those options are polite, to the point and would have left the OP feeling better.

    this makes so much sense!
i am sure when Martin started this website, he didn't want people arguing like children!
oviously, things are better off in there own board, but as previously said, maybe the post was started in the grabbit board, and this is the most visited thread, so it makes sense.
this is why i commented on here in the first place, nearly every thread i read is started and then someone feels they have to be rude and sarcastic to the op, when actually, in many cases, if politeness was used, then that would be the end of it!!
to be honest, i am suprised that people post here at all!!!
    hopefully things will change!:D
i keep losing weight, but it just keeps on finding me!!!!!!:D

I read the original post and thought "I've not got a clue what this poster is on about" but as I didn't bid for anything on ebay - not a bag, not a PS3 game, not anything from any seller called Paul - I couldn't be bothered to comment.

To the OP - it really would have been helpful if you'd posted a little bit more information to start with, what you posted later would have been perfect to let everybody know:

yesterday, here on grabbit, someone posted a link to half price pauls boutique bags and coats, last night the seller put the price up, then this morning back down again and no he is not a registered user

i was just trying to let people know they more than likely have been ripped off,

I didn't really think reply #2 was so rude, although the 2 alternative suggestions by gpalmer711 would have been more polite.

mcsavage, please ignore rude people like bensonsmum, it was good of you to post this thread for all the people who may have been conned. I'm feeling the same way about this board, I used to post regularly but felt that more and more I was having cheek thrown back at me when I was going out of my way to be helpful to people. It's such a shame that so many people are completely lacking in manners. try and rise above it if you can.

rude? how exactly was anyone to make sense of that posts except those who had seen the post on the Grabbit board?

I don't think you can always blame the writer when someone unreasonably reads offence into something, though.

The ironic thing about jumping on someone to condemn them for jumping (or not) on someone else...

'???????????????????' or 'excuse me please, but what are you writing about' appear quite different to me from '!!!!!! are you on?'

How annoying, Martin obviously doesn't like Tiny URL.

    I'll try that again:
