Is it not simpler to just ask the caller on a divert to your mobile from your home phone [or whichever] to let you ring them back? Would their number be recorded on your mobile or would you have to ask for it [and thus carry a pen and paper, horrors!]??0

I'm not sure why you have posted that question/observation here but yes, when a call is on divert from my home phone to my mobile, I can still see the caller's CLI so, if I wanted to call them back, I would know the number.
OTOH, I would know who's calling so, just as I could at home, I could ignore the call if I wanted to.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I disconnected my dialler box after Orchid stopped the service but want to get back into it and program my routing table again.
I did get the routing table from Orchid but how do I program it, do I keep it plugged into the phone socket and attach a modem to it and run the Excel sheet?0 -

It may be adviseable to clear all Carrier Codes and Routing Rules before doing that though just so you know the Orchid is program-free when you start.
(1). Clear the entire Carrier Rules table by entering the following sequence on your telephone keypad:
** # 0000 * 2222 * 6
(2). Clear the entire Routing Code table by entering the following sequence on your telephone keypad:
** # 0000 * 1111 * 6Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
