Will Orange price-match O2 1-month SIM only contract?
Hi all,
I'm 11 months in on my Orange contract and want to change tariff. I'm paying £30 a month with no texts and want to stay with Orange but I don't see why I should have to sign up for another 12 months, particularly as I like my phone.
I'm very keen on moving to O2 and taking them up on their 1-month contract SIM only deal, which is £30 for 500mins x-network and 1000 texts, however I don't really want to go through the hassle of telling everyone my new number if I do swap.
Has anyone ever price-matched this with Orange and managed to keep it on a 1-month rolling contract?
Thanks in advance!
Matt

Orange will price match, but you'll need to sign up for another 12 or 18 months, they wont do a rolling contract0

You wouldn't need to tell everyone your new number - port (transfer your number) to the new provider. Request a PAC code from Orange and give it to o2 and your number will be there in 7 days (it will therefore be about 2 hours when you are not contactable as the number switches from one sim to the other). This is generally a free service (though some retailers charge you to transfer a number to o2 e.g. Mobileshop is £10) but you would need to state it at the time of taking out your new contract. The PAC code lasts for 30 days and will end your contract with your current provider when the number is transferred, though you will have to pay for any remaining use (if you do this more than 7 days from the end of your 12 month contract) and would loose any inclusive minutes etc when they disconnect you, therefore worth waiting until 7/8 days before the end of your 12 months to transfer to and get the full value of the current contract/inclusive minutes etc before moving to your new provider.
