"CITYMAIN ADMINISTR" bank account charge

I went into my branch for a savings review on Saturday, looking at my account the advisor asked what this "Citymanin Administ" DD was for as it was set up but no payments had yet been made. I bought a new mobile from buymobilephones.net and definitely removed the insurance from my basket.

Thanks to the bank, I haven't made any payments, have cancelled the DD and will be on to Citymain to ensure it's all cancelled.

How is it possible that they would allow some ppl to cancel by phone and ask for letter from others?

I bought a phone through buymobilephones.net and made a note to cancel the insurance before the end of the 3 months.

Phoned them today, two weeks before the 3 months are up, and got the "cancel by post or fax only". Looks like I've dodged a bullet for once.

Gutted, Ive been paying 6.99 a month since 2004, makes me feel sick that these peolple can get away with it GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Has anybody successfully got there money back from Citymain as Im gonna try??

no they do lots of stuff i got stung for 2 months too but managed to cacel with no poblem you can fax them if you dont want to hold on 0844762333 with a note to say you want to cancel name address and mobile number you can also send the same by post to

Don't forget, if they've set up a DD without authorisation, contact your bank and claim it back under the DD guarantee. As far as I know, they don't actually specify a time limit for this, so if you've only just noticed after a number of months, you should be able to insist that every payment is refunded immediately under the guarantee.
