Sorry, don't agree.
I don't recommend the OPs course of action, but she's handled herself well by not overreacting to some of the comments. If she asks a question and chooses not to divulge other details then that's her prerogative
It's some others who are coming across now as smug and reactionary I'm afraid.
Totally agree with all you've said above talana - must be brilliant to lead a perfect life like lovelyleeds eh0 -

Some very experienced posters (and, I'm not one of them) tried to second guess some obviously missing information. They also tried to forewarn the OP of the potential pitfalls of lending money to friends - I really don't see anything wrong with that.
As you say, the OP is clearly very intelligent and possibly wealthy, so why not just engage an accountant rather than come on here?0 -
I'm would be quite happy to re-post in 18 months time when our agreement is over and i have a £2500 return on my investment (with tax to be paid
), but i appreciate that would probably not be noteworthy.

Nothing like ending with a bit of useless sarcasm when you've nothing positive to add, is there?
It's this sort of attitude that ruins this board, IMHO.0 -

Heh heh, sad to say it would be the exception to the rule, and would indeed be noteworthy by that very fact! Please do, if you remember, come back here, find this same thread, and post that it is all settled - it is always encouraging to hear, and good news is always good reading :-)
Hope it all works out for you :-)0 -
All those accused of being rude, spiteful, nasty etc are trying to ensure this doesn't happen.

I bet that poster wishes people had convinced him/her not to go through with it.0 -

Lots of people loan money to friends and family and get the money back. I'd not recommend it but if someone wants to do it, that's their prerogative. No need to be rude to the person who simply asked for tax advice. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

The OP has been quite happily defending her own opinion, other posters are trying to prevent a disaster unfolding. There is heaps of evidence on here demonstrating the how worthless a written agreement will be if it all goes wrong.
It is those such as yours which cause more trouble from someone who has self proclaimed themselves some kind of moral defender.
You seem to have forgotten it is a free forum, one in which anyone can post. Views and opinions will appear on any post, unless you have changed the board rules.0
