Was it from a traffic warden or a private company.

Finding him wouldnt have made any difference really, once they have done it they cant retract it.

All you can do is appeal, but check every single detail on the ticket first. Or even post a pic up, both sides on here so it can be checked for you, delete your personal details though.

If you are going to appeal it, get any copies of invoices (for replacement tyre), or anything you can think of
    to help your appeal

Or pay it and use that as a reminder to carry the locking wheel nut key in the car - what would you have done if you'd been 200 miles from home and got a flat tyre?

Nice set of alloys on your car and locking wheel nuts, now I wonder where the first place a potential thief will look, if they have time and oppertunity to nick your wheels then they have time and oppertunity to rip your car apart looking for the key and nick anything else that may be usefull.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Did you leave any sign in the window stating your vehicle had broken down?
  • Your best port of all would be to register and post on pepipoo.com. They have lots of people who are expert at beating council tickets and are not normally judgmental. Get pics/scans of all sides of all tickets/paperwork and host on tinypic. See their stickies for how to post pics. Copy of the receipt for new tyre if purchased would also help. Best of luck.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

and they would do this regardless of where the locking wheel nut was kept, how would any potential theif know whether the nut was in the car or at home?
