They haven't spoken directly to the old owners yet and are not too keen to face to face confrontation. I am trying to find someone to get over there to help them but they are on their way over to the Estate Agents now as they said they would assist!MissMotivation wrote: »It's a Friday afternoon and we all know what Solicitors get up to on a Friday afternoon!
Have your Parents explained to the old owners that they cannot stay?0 -
Get on to the solicitor, if he / she is in a meeting then speak to their boss.

As per the information provided herein, your parents have all rights to have the property vacated. Just need the co-operation from your solicitor and the vendor.Rupinder Singh Khurana0

Get into trouble for entering you own property?
I don't see why the new owners should incur any costs when they have a house that they have legally completed on......
Yes. Again, why do you think people don't just throw squatters out? Owners can only re-enter and change locks in a 'peaceable' fashion and so if the vendors resisted they could not do this.
Besides, I am not even sure if the completion is legally in place given vacant possession has not been awarded.
The OP needs to get the solicitor to issue a notice to complete, and then they need to go to court for a ruling of specific performance (i.e. to compelte), if I remember correctly. The sellers are liable for costs and for interest at a pretty punishing rate.0 -
I am assuming that the Police won't want to get involved?0

The penalties for completing and not giving vacant possession are HUGE! Give the vendors time to consult with their solicitor. Once they've had a chat I can almost guarantee they will be on the phone to find storage and hotel accommodation from this afternoon0

Yes, this is a civil matter0 -
worst case here but have your parents somewhere else to stay and store there furniture ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Yes they have, luckily for them they sold there house 6 months ago and have been in rented. They have given notice on that flat though which is a weeks time so they have a place for that time but not beyond.worst case here but have your parents somewhere else to stay and store there furniture .
They won't be homeless tonight but they had a carpet layer due in later today and a couple of other tradesmen over the weekend too. They are converting the garage into an annex for my Grandmother too and the builder is starting on Tuesday next week so delays beyond a day or so would be massively disrupting.0 -
technical they are squatting and unless you can get the solicitor to do something today ,they will be there at least until Monday . I know its not what you want to hear . Cancel the carpet fitter for today .
The vendors havent arranged a removal firm and its probably to late for today"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0
