Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 21st October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning,

SC and Shalva - Belated birthday wishes for DD's hope they enjoyed their days xxx

Up at 5am this morning thought i'd have a cuppa to take back to bed. Kids woke up and that was that. So here we are starting the day kids have been fed and watered. DH has left for work, DD1 is still snoozing (such a sensible girl).

Took DD2 to her first Rainbows session last night, she loved it so will be going from after half term, just need to win a rainbow uniform on ebay now ;). The dress arrived y'day tried it on i look like a hippo in it so will be taking that back today and finding a chiffony ruffly blouse ;).
Need to take my old lady to the hairdressers today, whip the dogs out, then nip to town to take said dress back and grab 3 of the dog blankets that are 3.50 at Mr S's ready for the dogs for winter :o.

Tea not sure yet....

Have lovely ones xx

Good Morning Bargain Bird and All Who Follow x

Sorry not been posting much but have been reading.

I had my injections on Wednesday and they are working but I do feel a bit sad that I have been denied a chance of having a long-term fix. I suppose It has got to me a little but I will shake myself out of it and enjoy the next couple of weeks :T:T:T

No real OS today as going to go shopping in MK. I am having a debate with myself regarding some clothes I have seen in F*tFace and really can I justify the cost? Im hoping they fit badly and then I wont have to keep battling with myself:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hugs to all you guys especially NPM.
Redruby - hope no puddles for you this morning. When Poppy does that it generally means she has a wee wee infection x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good Morning BB and Molly41 and all who follow, up with the birds this morning and just done all my bill paying for the month and sorted out my finances.Still solvent and afloat.I checked my Gas and Electric accounts and I am pleased that I am well into the black with them at the moment but if the weather gets really cold this winter who knows how it will be by February.Touch wood I haven't as yet had to put the heating on as its still quite mild in the south.
Today I have the school run as usual then off to get some food shopping, not a great deal only essentials to buy.Yesterday I used up some chicken stock and some 'past their best veg and made some soup for the next couple of days also stewed some windfalls in honey and covered in gloopy custard so that's starters and pud sorted until Sunday at least.I still have half a bag of windfalls to use up so I will be peeling tonight whislt watching t.v.
This afternoon I have my History club and we are doing the life of the Duke of Wellington.
Then its half term for a week :) ,although on Monday DD and I and the tribe are off to Dover castle for the day.We try to get the boys out and about during half term if we can and scour the papers and local internet for things to do that don't cast a lot.luckily they are quite adaptable and we do find odd places to take them at times but great fun.
I hope everyone has a great half term with no great dramas happening. My DD is so pleased as she has managed to get the half term week off with the boys normally she has to work.
Well time to get a wriggle on and start the kettle going for some much needed tea
    Have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

No ice on the car this morning, but still bloody cold & I refuse to have the heating on yet.
I went to a quiz night last night & the team I was in won so I came home with a bottle of Bucks Fizz, I shall save it for Christmas.
I treated myself to some bamboo needles & they have arrived, hopefully I shall be able to finish my knitting with a little less pain.
We are eating out tonight as it's hubbys belated birthday present & we are going to the theatre.
    Have a lovely day everybody.
    Hugs Hester

Happy Birthday for yesterday to your DD's SC and Shalva.
NPM sorry to hear things are bad just as well you gave up work to look after your boy, he really needs you. Hugs hun.

Blooming cold here, have got the heating on but am turning it on and off by hand so hopefully that won't be so bad. Feeling a bit rubbish physically, backache, headache, neckache and a cold coming. Glad it's half-term next week and I'm off.

Plan today to clean for Mum, then I'm off to the gym also have work tonight. Tea tonight is leftovers. Have filled is form online for DS,s secondary school, took 3 go's to do. Keeping my fingers crossed he'll get in to the school we want.

Big hugs to all who need one and have a good day all.

    Morning everyone,

SC and Shalva, Happy birthday for yesterday for your DDs.

Didn't manage to post yesterday, don't know where the day went.
Went to a concert at DD2's school in the evening, there are some very talented musicians amongst her friends.

One working day to get through and then it is half term, I am absolutely exhausted. Our new head changed the pattern of the school day this year and it seems to involve a lot more running about, I hope it gets changed back soon.

DD1 is off to a sleepover tonight after she and DD2 have been to church music practice, don't know what DS is doing but I am going to watch telly in my pyjamas whilst eating chocolate!:D

    Tea tonight is HM pizza.

Hugs to all in need and especially to NPM, you are a wonderful mother and your boundless patience is obvious from your posts.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning!

The weekend is here... as is half term :D

I have no DS the next 4 days (he's at his dad's then my mum's) and the house will get a good clean, as we have a houseful after DH Confirmation in a few weeks (Oh dear!)

Yesterday a friend lent me the most wonderful wicker bassenette (it's 38 years old) and is just wonderful for the front room :)

So today I have to pick up a carrycot my mum won on eBay, go to Hobbycraft (to buy hooks to amend my cat nets because they are pretty much useless!!!) then this afternoon my DH has the dentist (which always costs tons of money!) then a visit to my mum who has been terribly poorly recently.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend x

    Jx

No Puddles :j, I am almost convinced its not a wee infection, (thanks to you and lamewolf though) I am very sure its just lazyness and fear of the cold :D, she really doesn't like going out for the last wee at night and sometimes stands on the step shivering :rotfl:, I make her go on the grass, but I dont think OH did up to now, she also goes through stages, can be dry for months, and then starts again, hopefully this is the start of a dry session :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Cold again here, no heating yet, will try to last till November, really cant afford any huge bills. DD has the day off today so she is still warm in bed, will get her up just before I go to work.

I finish at lunchtime, so nice and early home, meatballs and pasta for dinner, and we have six items ending on Ebay tonight, all but one have bids on, I love watching them finish :o, and seeing how much you have raised, will hopefully have enough for a new computer soon.

DD can have a tidy through for me today, its lovely to come home to it all clean and tidy.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Clear, bright and sun trying to get out, looks like another sunny day but it's really chilly. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta and HM bread to accompany and HM apple crumble and custard. Was naughty last night and fell asleep on the sofa so went to bed and hadn't s&s'd the kitchen worktops or packed everything into the DW, kitchen was yuk! remember now why I must clean up every night!!

DS1's rugby team lost, but sounds like he enjoyed the game. Was reasonably productive yesterday got housework done, managed to get the jobs done in town, did all ironing but now have another load ready to go out on the line - will do that in a mo. Sorted out a couple of junk spots at home so they look much tidier. Have got chicken out to defrost for dinner tonight - will do stuffing on top and wrap in bacon, mash and veg will accompany. Have to go into town to the bank and then do food shopping, will then come home to get ironing done (if washing dry enough) and hopefully get some cooking/baking done, won't need to do much as boys going away on Tuesday - but may make some for them to take with them as they're going with my parents to self catering accommodation.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, keep safe and well xxx

Is this really me? Here before the sun is up and catching uo on what you have all been up to? I have decided that browsing on forums is why I don't get anything done so I'm trying to do all my browsing before breakfast.
Think it's going to be bright here today. No mist, no foghorns and I can see the lights twinkling on the mainland. Already have a load in the WM in the hope that it will dry outside. Then today I am going to muck out the breakfast room and tackle a couple of the more disgusting kichen cupboards before doing a load of cooking. Half term next week so an influx of visitors needing food, also have to make a pudding for the drop-in on Sunday, am fancying Sticky Toffee.
Ever since JackieO made that remark about how many days it is till Christmas I have been trying to force my mind in that direction. Our own celebration will be quiet and simple but there are so many Christmas fairs and such needing contributions that I will have to get a wriggle on. Am halfway through the Christmas stockings and am thinking of making homemade apricot mincemeat in festive jars. The 'fruit and nut' shop has an offer on apricots.
So many of you are having a tough time just now, you know you have all our support. NPM, my heart goes out to you.

Well I'm off to do battle with the housework. I may be some time!

    Oops, nearly forgot. Welcome Tealady.

    Morning all!

I think i am catching OH's lurgy! Meeting a friend for a catch up tonight, but don't think i will drink to try and keep the cold at bay. OH still has a chesty cough, which i don't, I have a sore throat.

I've nearly finished my first freelance admin job which is exciting, hopefully i can invoice this weekend and the money will go towards OH's birthday present, then I will work on my profile and start trying to get more jobs.

I need to pay my council tax today, but can't find my ref no anywhere!! so will need to call them and find that.

Lunches is an innocent veg pot and OH has sarnies, he was up last night trying to decide his dinner for today, he still has no idea what he wants, as i'm out it needs to be something he will cook! will look in waitrose after work for him.

OS - not much today, need to get ready to go to my dads tomorrow, and blitz the house before i go.
