MoneySaving Sim Card!
I work for O2. We have just launched some new Sim cards on a 30 day rolling contract.
These are aimed at people who are on payg sending a lot of text or making cross network calls.
Also people still in contract but who are getting high bills, the sim card can be run alongside the contract to give a combined cheaper bill; the existing contract can be lowered to the cheapest line rental until if finishes.
The sims are on a limited promotion at the moment with double minutes and double text for as long as you keep it for!
The offers are…
600 offpeak Xnetwork with 1000 anytime text £20 a month
1000 offpeak Xnetwork with 1000 anytime text £25 a month
200 anytime Xnetwork with 1000 anytime text £25 a month
400 anytime Xnetwork with 1000 anytime text £30 a month
800 anytime Xnetwork with 2000 anytime text £45 a month!
including VAT...
free minutes and text can be tracked online, updated in realtime.
You can keep your payg number, or contract number (subject to obtaining PAC code)
customer service is no longer 50 p a minute, its now a 0870 number (saynoto0870.com)
examples of where to save
..For a texter on payg £20 a month would get 200 text OR approx 60 xnetwork minutes; or a mixture of the two. Take 600 xnet offpeak and 1000 text.
..6 months left on contract on 200 minutes xnetwork 50 text £30 a month. Getting £100 bills due to high texts and going over minutes. Reduce contract to basic £15 a month and take 400 minutes 1000 text at £30. Saving of £55 a month.

So, basically you get a brand spanking new SIM, without a brand spanking new phone....which you could keep or sell to offset the monthly contract charge :-(
What about credit checks? Will people with CCJ's, and other black marks on their credit history, be welcome to apply?0 -
i think this double minutes and 1000 texts promotion has been going on for ages. i remember checking it out last year on their website and am sure it definitely gave the same number of minutes, not sure about 1000 texts.
and the website doesnt show u ur balance in real time. in fact, its very very annoying indeed, because its always 48 hours out of date. so u have to be very very careful when approaching the end of ur minutes n texts.0 -
These also not 12 month contracts. It's a 30 day contract. Though when i rang and asked about it, they said you could change to a more expensive tariff as often as you like, but go down in price every six months. But presumably you could just cancel it and start over again rather than waiting0

You can get a brand spanking new phone but you get half the minutes and half the text!
As its a 30 day contract as well how would a phone be possible?
A credit check is involved as there is still scope to run up a huge bill in 30 days
I've found O2's credit check passes a lot of people who have been declined on Tmobile and Vodafone though!0 -

.
Its been half this until recently 300 offpeak mins and 500 text was last years offer.
Kai666 can't see why changing tarifs would be an issue like you said you could cancel and join again!
I think when you rang they must have given you the T&C's for the 12 month contracts which cant be lowered for 6 months unless you make up the difference.
All tarifs can be increased to a higher one at any time.0 -

As long as you stay on it you will get the promotion.
No rollover, but with the online tracking of the free minutes most customers dont waste any minutes!
Yes you can keep your number.
Its classed as a promotion which can be withdrawn at any time your guess is as good as mine?!0 -

You mean that because there's no rollover, they make lots of calls they would otherwise not make, just in order to use up the minutes. That is not the same thing!Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Is it possible for people visiting from abroad to use it, or will the credit checks only allow UK credit cards?0
-
andy 88, the requirements are a valid email address, over 18 and a current uk bank account.
I have sold to a lot of people who have only been in the country 3 months but with this criteria and they have been offered the sim0
