    Thanks. I'm planning to go ahead with what i mentioned, but need a bit more help on SORN/refunds;
    Do i need to obtain a SORN before i ask for a tax disc refund?
    Private car park i.e. tube station, defined off road? (planning to park on friends car park still, but would be nice to know)

    You all been great replying to my post as quickly as you have! and the useful advice, both of which i appreciate dearly :)!

    Yeah, but it could be Neither.

    In which case it is required to be insured.

    Use this V14 form to apply for a refund and Sorn at the same time.

    Read the notes on the form. It tells you what off road means.

    You need DVLA's form V14, attach the disc and put a cross in the SORN box in part 3.

    Only the current or last registered keeper can apply for a refund, and as it says on the form, your details must exactly match those on the V5C.

    Yes. I know that!
    If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

    A station or other carpark with public access is not good enough. Its likely to be reported as abandoned.

    Then you will get the towing fees, If you dont arrange insurance and collection within 2 weeks they will crush it.

    Private land with the owners permission. A carparl or similar would need to be barrier or gate controlled to stop
    public access.

    and don't forget... it can still be stolen when it's on SORN. So it's not the best idea to leave it parked up uninsured where it can be stolen.

    You must also have valid car insurance regardless of where you store it now.

    No No No.

    If a car is off the road and SORN'd it does not need to be insured.

    Depends on how you read it. If he means not taxed AND sorned [as in the not being both parts] then wrong. If he means not taxed BUT sorned, then it's right.

    Its clunky english but perfectly clear what was meant.

    What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
