Thanks. I'm planning to go ahead with what i mentioned, but need a bit more help on SORN/refunds;
Do i need to obtain a SORN before i ask for a tax disc refund?
Private car park i.e. tube station, defined off road? (planning to park on friends car park still, but would be nice to know)
You all been great replying to my post as quickly as you have! and the useful advice, both of which i appreciate dearly!

Read the notes on the form. It tells you what off road means.0 -

You need DVLA's form V14, attach the disc and put a cross in the SORN box in part 3.

Only the current or last registered keeper can apply for a refund, and as it says on the form, your details must exactly match those on the V5C.0 -

Yes. I know that!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
A station or other carpark with public access is not good enough. Its likely to be reported as abandoned.
Then you will get the towing fees, If you dont arrange insurance and collection within 2 weeks they will crush it.
Private land with the owners permission. A carparl or similar would need to be barrier or gate controlled to stop
public access.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
and don't forget... it can still be stolen when it's on SORN. So it's not the best idea to leave it parked up uninsured where it can be stolen.0

id park it at a friends rather than a car park like ithers said can still be stolen then uyou wouldnt get anythingWhat goes around-comes around0

No No No.
If a car is off the road and SORN'd it does not need to be insured. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -

Its clunky english but perfectly clear what was meant.
