Never pay ANY deposit you are not prepared to loose.
Pay by cash upon inspection of the vehicle, if you are unhappy and feel it has been describe, unlisted faults etc WALK AWAY.
If the seller is not happy with this, tell them to re-list the vehicle as the contract is terminated.

Stop. Step back. And think about this.

Someone wants you to pay up front for a car. A car you have not seen?

I agree. Do not pay for a car that you have not seen. Contact the buyer, say you have cash and that you will pay when you have seen the car. They won't lose out if you decide not to buy. They can get their final value fee back if they let ebay know that neither of you have proceeded with the transaction.

If the seller still insists on PAYPAL. Say no and contact ebay helpline and discuss it with them.

    Hope this helps.

If it is a genuine seller, they'll be pleased to learn that its safer for them too to be paid on collection as there's no seller protection for motors either. So if You were a scammer, they'd end up losing all their money and their vehicle.

I've bought and sold cars on ebay in the past. Definitely wouldn't expect paypal as a payment and wouldn't pay with it either. You could offer a small deposit via paypal but no more. I'm not sure why a seller would want to pay the fees, seems a bit strange. Cash suits me. You are right to concerned so don't be bullied.
;47868169]I've actually spoken to the seller and they want me to pay by paypal today....

Personally, I'd rather at least see the car to make sure its not a scam first. Not sure how I'd stand if I paid out with paypal and then found out it was all a con.
I got the same issue happen.

buyer ask me to pay fully on paypal before she can pick me up from the train station. i was about to go and pick the car up today and she call me yesterday night.

I did offer cash on pick up and she refused.

I think this is a scam as i search around and found out that EBay protection does not apply to goods picked up or delivered in person.

So i turn round and cancel the trip.

Oh. she also says that she wont disclose her address.

    Better be safe than sorry

    Good Luck

I agree that it's madness to pay for a car that's not been seen, but if the seller insists on Paypal, is there any point in calling the ebay helpline?

All they will probably say is that the seller is within their rights to insist on payment this way as paypal was the only payment option offered and what they are asking the buyer to do is totally within ebay rules and guidelines.
