time allowed to cancel DSR

How long are we allowed to cancel something after an order, if ordered over the telephone please?

I am concerned because I just read I had to cancel in writing, and I advised that I would like to cancel someting over the telephone and was then advised the order was 'put on hold'. I have given my cancellation in writing today but it is 15 days since the original order.

    7 working days.

You must notify them via a 'durable medium' e.g. in writing, via email..
  • Hmm... that sounds like bad news. So will I be liable to pay for the order? I paid on credit card.
  • Also, I remember something about 'in reasonable time' for an order cancellation/return?

If you have changed your mind and this time has passed, you have no rights to return for a refund.

If the product is faulty, you can reject it under Sales of Goods Act within "reasonable" time for a full refund, after a "reasonable" time has passed the retail would have to offer a remedy.

But that seven working days starts with the day after delivery.

If you have not yet received the goods, then you are ok to cancel... in writing as you said.
  • So, I haven't received the goods so I am OK, I really hope so!?
  • yes, the clock starts ticking the (working) day after you receive the items.

Unless it is an item exempt from DSRs.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • Great news! In fact £359 pounds worth of good news!

I charge 10% for my advice. The invoice will be in the post.

Only joking! good news for you, well done. :T (just don't forget to email them!).
