Sellers paypal fee advice wanted

Having e-mailed Paypal and requested to move to 'Personal' account to avoid paying the percentage extra when my buyers pay by paypal - I've had an informative reply which seems to be telling me that I can, by all means, change to 'Personal' account but .... there is an annual limit of £250 on payments you can receive into Paypal.
Am I understanding this correctly does anyone know?
If so, it looks like I'm stuck paying the fees - although obviously that's just something I have to accept for the advantages of using Paypal!:p0 -

I think your understanding is correct.
By the way... you're not allowed to tick the 'I accept Paypal' box on listings unless you're willing accept credit card funded payments, ie. have a premier account, ie. incur fees!
If you're a half serious seller who wants to accept paypal, you don't really have the option of not having a permier account. My TV is broken!

Smileypigface, be aware that if you do downgrade to a basic account you can no longer tick the 'I accept paypal' box when selling goods as you must not display the paypal logo as you can only accept payment from existing paypal transfers.
From a selling point of view trying to sell with ust a basic account is very very difficult as without the paypal logo and the 'I acccept paypal' box ticked people like me that search for paypal auctions only won't even see your listings.

I think I have just had the same e-mail!!! I can't understand the charges, in a premier account, though. Apart from a higher money amount and more than 2 (I think) CC transactions you don't get any benefits from them, so what are they charging us for???
Surely they would have been better off charging a one-off fee, payable from your first transactions (i.e £5 when you have earned £10). They are just out to grab as much as they can.
Grrr Grrr rant rant
all better now :rotfl: :dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -

They're charging your for accepting instant payment from a credit card. I don't know of a free way of doing that
Someone has to pay the credit card fees...

Ok, but I seemed to get charged for every transaction into my account. Statistically speaking they can't all be CC (eg I pay for my items directly from my paypal acc thru transferring funds...it costs nothing are other people paying for that?), in fact one guy paid by echeque, which took 11 days to clear, and I was charged for that too!:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
Thank you for those useful responses ....
Looks like I'm stuck with the Premier account then - I'm not a big seller but am in the process of moving house and am determined that all the unnecessary stuff just has to go .. plus, my 12 year old daughter has decided on being a millionaire as a career choice !!!!!:D !!!!! so I've promised her half the profits if she helps out - which has resulted in boosting my efforts a bit!!!
Thanks again

Put it down to paying for conveninece, then.
If you accept small payments a paypal micropayments account may be better value - the fees work out a little lower. My TV is broken!
