Hey Nora , hope you're on the way back up -those troughs are awful places, just remember theres more chocolate back at the top, and the climb is a bloomin good reason to open some chocolate too after all you need the energy for the climb. ;)

Hello there Nora, just wondering what you plan to do about the deposit. It sounds like the landlord is being quite unreasonable (I stalked you onto your other thread), surely some wear and tear is covered through the price of the rent. Fair enough to the carpets that were ruined, but the rest?

Although sometimes it is better for your wellbeing to write it off and forget about it rather than getting torn up about something you might not be able to change

Hope your week has been okay

    Banwa:)

    Hi Banwa

Honestly not sure yet - have written back to the Agent just asking for a breakdown of costs for the carpets showing wear and tear, depreciation etc.

I put in a bit about being frustrated to be charged for cleaning when their own rep stated that the house was "immaculate", and challenged the costs on painting two walls, and dealing with 24 picture hooks throughout the house (yes, I counted!). I also pointed out that these were issues that should have been covered by the interim inspections - except they didn't bother doing any... As you might expect, I've heard diddly squat since!

I do think you're right though - sometimes it's worth the money just to be able to draw a line. And *ahem* tbh, I'd've probably done that straight away if the Agent hadn't p****d me off in her response to my original query about the deposit by trying to say it was my own fault I hadn't heard anything, as I'd clearly changed my email address - when in fact, it shows that she's used the old work one which is obselete, and I've done the change of contact details thing with her twice prior to this....and she and I have only ever used my current personal one!!

Hey Scuba - was thinking about you, and wondering how you're settling into the new place? Thanks for the advice - you are truly a wise lady...*bows down in awe*....think I may have to cross stitch that onto a pillow! :D

And sometimes it's worth it just to annoy them. Especially when they sit in front of you and lie in your face.

Yeah we're good, just getting straightened out with the new bills etc, the pet's inability to keep money spare for 'just in case' is sending me loopy again but meh it'll sort itself out when I stop paying the full amount in to the bills account until I get 'my' money back again ;)

Hisself is on biff leave for a little while so we're negotiating a trip to Ikea with the giftcards from my Dad to buy some lovely new furniture for him to build before he goes back to work/before he heads off on his 7 month sandy holiday. So far we've negotiated to me driving and him paying for the stuff to be delivered as my car would be too small for the things we want to get....am working on a meal in the cafe but hes being stubborn at the moment. But since its the only meal the hopeless creature will be taking me out for in Feb I'll win this one he just doesn't know it yet. :D

oh, you're so good to him - offering him a chance to create new memories of activity to think on while he's bored as wotsit....plus projects to whinge about to his mates...and a mystery to solve around that one random fitting that probably should've gone somewhere essential....

Am I the only person that thinks putting together IKEA furniture is *really* easy?

Of course, I do read the instructions first...
