I knew not to expect too much sense - not only is it two men but two infantry soliders...with no SNCO's giving orders, tbh I'm lucky as much got done as there was!
I wandered back in to the flat after work to find the three bookcases, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dining table and chair still all in situ - he insisted on hiring a bigger van than I'd planned to as "it'll all go in one trip no problem" whereas hiring a smaller van I can drive would have meant several journeys.....still the bed, suite, two biggest book cases and computer desk were moved.
Sorting the tv/phone/internet was the easiest part tbh, we phoned virgin last week to tell them we're moving, negotiated somewhat for free installation, the Tivo box, and a better router and faster internet - which in the end is costing £2 less a month than we were paying before! Then asked nicely how soon they could come and install it at the new place, we did get lucky there though, they'd got an engineer booked to come to another house on our street so booked us in to the same time slot, otherwise it probably would have been after Christmas. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Evening 'verse :santa2:
As I'm sitting here looking at the envelope going back to Tescos with my acceptance of their offer, it occurs to me that I've had lifelines like this before.
There has been the occasional refund, back pay, a small windfall etc., and yet I've still made the same mistakes again and again...kept spending, kept living beyond my means, kept waiting for some form of 'sign' that I really should get my act together...because let's be honest, if I'd been at all sensible, the original debt would've been paid long ago.
So as I've been pondering how continually lucky I am, I can't help but realise that I've been waiting for a sign all this time, and ignoring every one which comes along. Each chance to revise my ways, each kick up the proverbial, and even the breakdown...I mean, good grief woman, aside from a wet haddock round the side of the head, what else do I need?!!
So, what will be different about this time? I honestly don't know - other than I've noticed the trend this time; I've already worked out that when it turns up, the actual refund will pay off CC2, and most of CC1; that I'm popping the entire 8% interest into a seperate account until HMRC have decided how much of it they want to tax; and that I'm excited to clear the remainder of CC2 and Loan 2...
And at this point I'm just rambling - while my mother is desperately trying to discuss (or get me to explain) quantum physics and time shifts.... apparently she wasn't content with my relaying of Dr Who's theory of timey-wimey stuff!
OK, suffice to say that I'm going to try not to spend too much over the next couple of potentially very spendy days...and I'm a little proud of myself for foreseeing that I would be spending small amounts on teas and coffees (and chippy chips) in the first few days of seeing mum, and had therefore already set aside money...allowing for some NSDs....
Have a good 'un!

Well let's reverse that question: What will be the same this time?Knitting_Nora wrote: »And at this point I'm just rambling - while my mother is desperately trying to discuss (or get me to explain) quantum physics

Try wave/particle duality, especial around the phonon.Knitting_Nora wrote: »OK, suffice to say that I'm going to try not to spend too much over the next couple of potentially very spendy days...and I'm a little proud of myself for foreseeing that I would be spending small amounts on teas and coffees (and chippy chips) in the first few days of seeing mum, and had therefore already set aside money...allowing for some NSDs....

I have been having similar musings about why I keep taking on more stuff than I can actually handle, which in my case contributes to somehow causing more expense and meaning stuff doesn't get paid off. I think it's something to do with eternal optimism. Every time I get away with it, I think I can manage it the next time. Maybe we are blinded by the bright side?!
It's only when I really ran myself into the buffers in June that I realised I wasn't enjoying it any more and things had to be different. Oddly, I can still remember why I need it to be different now, whereas previously I think I'd kind of gone 'ah, I knew it'd work somehow all along'.
Though you might want to keep a wet haddock to hand in case I slip...

So if that's the only thing that remains the same, why is the same going to happen?Knitting_Nora wrote: »Ahhhhh, but is it really?
Yep. Quantum (Planck) dimensions are the smallest you can go and still be in existence. Even before then, it starts getting a bit pot-luck whether something really is there.
Next up, the Pauli exclusion principle...Knitting_Nora wrote: »Dagnamit - who told?!!
