    Are you using a builder or a a bathroom fitter that fits bathrooms day in day out?

    Leif - Andy has asked a very valid question. You do not need a builder you need a bathroom fitter.

    I'm using someone who did an excellent job of fitting several bathrooms for a colleague's parents. I no longer trust someone unless I get references from people I know and trust,

    That would be fine then IMO. My point was that a general builder will either sub-it out or use his own guys to do it. Both will get squeezed on costs and time but particularly a subbie. The recommend is worth its weight in gold. Your last sentence is something that more peeps should take heed of - just for anyone else reading this thread.

    Yes, I did not go with the builder who did work before because I know he would not be on site, and the finish would probably not be high given past experience.
