Getting a bathroom inspection/report

I want to get a short report written about the current state of my bathroom, which was bodged by some cowboys who I threw out before they got half way through. I currently have no functioning bathroom. Anyway, I've had a couple of fitters in to quote (I was recommended them by people I know who have used them) and both do not want to provide a written report. Basically they do not want the aggro of being involved in a dispute. I would like an independent report to back up my view that the work is very poor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What/who do you need the report for?
Near Alton, East Hants. I am probably going to the small claims court to get a refund from the people who half fitted my bathroom. They did a bodge. I want an independent witness who can confirm what I have seen e.g. no use of primer on the walls (despite an email saying they used primer). If for example I can prove primer was not used, I can prove they have lied, which calls into question their integrity. Some of the bodge is evident from photos, but I need as much evidence as I can get to prove that these people cut corners.
I have been told that a surveyor could do the job, and I will pursue that avenue.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
are you 100% shure, that diluted pva/unibond or similar, was'nt used for priming the walls.
you would only be able to see a soft sheen to the wall, as the pva would dry completely clear.0 -
If you are going to small claims court you will need a surveyors report which will cost you money- which is fine and Dandy if you win, not so much if you lose. Is it so bad that the job cant be finished to your satisfaction with the balance of moneys and a little extra, as I presume you have not paid the original fitters all the money?0

OP did in his previous thread on this bathroom.

I've now had two people look at the walls in person, one a bathroom fitter (very experienced, does plastering too), and one a project manager for a builders. Both confirm no primer was used. One mentioned the wall was powdery, which I assume is inconsistent with primer. The fitters said they used Bal Primer, not PVA. The second person said he was happy to write a short report without payment, but my experience with him is he makes rosy promises, but does not always deliver, so I am not holding my breath.
An expert witness is an idea, but it could cost a lot.
Unfortunately I have paid the original fitters a lot of money, about half the total. The problem is that the tiles are not put on properly, with adhesive applied to tiles, not the wall, and poor adhesion, possibly due to lack of primer, or tiling too soon after plastering (1.5 days), or not applying adhesive correctly. So all tiles need removing and replacing. And the bath needs turning around. Since it pretty much needs redoing, it makes sense to have the coving removed and the room replastered so as to get it right, which means starting again. I do have some furniture, but I am told the bath is poor quality (Carron delta, thin apparently).
Unfortunately an email I had from the fitters basically says "we did exactly what you asked us to do". In my view these people are lazy and incompetent, as they cut corners, but much will come down to their word against mine, as not much was recorded in emails/writing. They are wily as the email they sent sounds very reasonable, and coherent. Except I know it is not true.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
