Flavoured Vodka

The best sweets to try are Jelly babies. Put 6 or 7 of your favourites into a 1L bottle fill with a good vodka and leave for a few hours - They will slowly disolve - give a shake to mix every now and again and the clours and flavours will infuse. 12 hrs later and all will be fully dissolved for a tasty drink. For a top notch twist, stick the bottle in the freezer for a few hours. The vodka will not freeze (because of the high alchohol content) but will slightly thicken - Poor in a shot glass and sip slowly. Enjoy.
NB: The black ones are my favourite.0 -
These are my flavoured vodkas
Pear drop - did 2 varieties, gorgeous
Kola cube - just like sucking the sweet
toffee - ok
fudge - 50/50 as it came out like a layered affect, don't know if it was what I had done - just put label as "layered vodka" - no complaints
Pommegrate vodka - used tub 150g pomemegrate - left it for 5 days gone beautiful pink, strained the fruit out, its lush
Christmas Pudding Flavour - few currants, sultanas, mixed peel (or could use handful mixed fruit), couple tablespoons brown sugar, teaspoon cinnamon, pop in bottle top up with vodka - shake regularly (within a week sugar + cinnamon dissolved - just strained off and put the fruit mix ready for christmas cake)
Cherry Vodka - Had jar cherries in syrup from aldi - took about 10 cherries to small wine bottle, added 2 teaspoons cherry juice, topped up with vodka
Jelly babies - used 7 jelly babies stuck to same colour
Skittles - I just used 1 flavour again
Chocolate - local pick and mix they have differentchoc (pink pigs, white fish and chip shapes) - just use one flavour to each bottle
I will admit we had a slight disaster last year - made wine gum vodka, whether I had added too many wine gums don't know it went into jelly, - so improvised and added it to christmas hamper as wine gum jelly - the person loved it
I want to have a bash at fruit salad, black jack, refreshers chew bar and drumstick lolly... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Where's everyone finding their cheap voddy then? :d0

I cheated and used vodka snapps, 20% volume, £4.99 in home bargains, I have used own brand value vodka before, and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference.

I want to make werther's, glacier mint and rhubarb and custard vodka. I'm going to make 6x 100ml bottles, 2 of each flavour, roughly how many of each sweet does anyone think I should put in? Can you taste it as you go along and add more if needed? Thanks for any help.0

I would say if your making them straight into those size bottles go for about 6 to 8 sweets, but bash them small. I'll be totally honest and say your cutting it fine for xmas.
There one of those things that i've found you can't add more sweets, I made a batch of christmas pudding vodka, but put too many ingredients in looked like cough mixture, but managed to decant it and put half vodka mix and then topped ip with vodka, with a good shake it worked, think it was more luck than judgement.

There's a recipe in Good Food or Good Housekeeping (can't remember) for turkish delight vodka. Might be worth trying.0

might sound daft, but how do you actually filter it? :beer:0
