Ive been victim to a scam - what do i do next??

hi, i had a mobile phone on ebay to sell, the auction finished with one bid, and several hours later i still hadnt received the payment.

Ive just looked into it further and found this

http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=psychdebs&sort=3&page=1&rows=25&completed=1&all=0

This is the bidding history for the person who won my item, they have won hundreds of mobile phones, all on the same day, and people have started to leave extremely negative feedback.

I realise im not gonna get the payment, and i will have to relist, but obviously i cant start a "non paying bidder" dispute until the 28th jan, am i safe to relist my item today?

  • Its hardly a scam - its a non paying bidder. Whilst you probably should wait till you open/close the dispute you should be fine and if the buyer pays via paypal just refund them, if by cheque don't cash it.

Call me mean, but i laughed- this is not a scam me'dear and it happens all the time on ebay to users

Just file your NPB and he'll most likely get booted off ebay within a few days
  • can i just say, i have used ebay for many years, and this is the first time this has happened to me, and i just wanted some advice.

to hear that people have laughed about my problem really upsets me, as i thought this was a forum to discuss problems with ebay, regardless if things like this happen all the time.

    Aww diddums:rolleyes:
It is a forum to discuss things with ebay and we did answer you, in fact most of what you need to know.
no offense ment by my post though, you don't really have a problem though. After 10 days you file ur report, you will be able to relist for free (i think) and the buyer, after doing it to hundreds will be suspended

I just laughed that you called it a scam thats all

I should really just stop myself reading the ebay boards

it is not funny and i don't think the people are laughing at you, my daughter sold her phone on ebay but someone from nigeria had put a bid of £1000 for it, just be careful, ebay don't care as long as they are getting their fees

Yes, but people tend to block outisde of Uk bidding, and below 5feedback users on high value items such as a phone from whay ive seen, stops most
  • i know, and maybe when i used the word "scam" i was over-reacting, but as i said, ive never had anything like this happen to me in the 4 or so years ive used ebay, so to me it was a big deal, as i really needed the money and was elated when i thought someone had bought it!!

It just goes to show that alot of fake people are getting into the ebay system and spoiling it for the genuine buyers and sellers

    The bidder is from Shropshire!

I would just relist it or If you got a good 2nd chance go for that.

There is no way they are going to pay for it!
