They were the cheapest for me too and I've just signed -up with them tonight. Fingers crossed they will be OK.
  • i ve been with OVO 2 years now and I m quite happy, mainly because of their low prices. Customer service has been good too.
When year 1 ended they realised I was £400 in debit (paid by direct debit each month £70). They wouldnt refund me any of it, but just lowered the DD to £50 per month. I m still in debit, about to move house and not sure if they re still cheapest where I m moving to, so interesting to see if I ll get my money back.
They have a scheme where if you re on debit you earn interest, but really it is peanuts, I earned something like £1.

    Assume you mean in credit?

I was with Ovo for a year, switched to Co-op but just about to switch back. Whenever I built up a credit with Ovo that was more than a months DD amount I rang the Company, asked for the excess amount to be refunded and it was in my bank account within days.

Had a couple of issues with the Ovo customer services but having switched away realised it was still good in comparison with others. Hence the switch back.
  • They pay interest based on any credit you have on your account too. 3% I believe. I've been with them since July. They seem pretty good, and are cheapest tariff for me too.

Fixed has risen by 6.2% variable has risen by 3.5%, prices come into affect January 2012. So if you've just signed up to a fix you are okay.

Take a look at the standing charges as well. The gas one is up nearly 50% and electric by about 20%, which will increase the overall % rise.

For my usage, Fixed is up from £626 to £689. A rise of £63.
