Parking ticket bailiffs charged me £475 help please

Hi I HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO POST THIS HERE FROM TEH DEBT-FREE WANNABEE THREAD
At 5pm this evening I answered the door to two men who told me they were there to execute a warrant for an unpaid parking ticket. It was a £50 council ticket which I disputed and then heard nothing until bailiffs were at my door. They were from a company called proserve? They blocked my car on my drive and told me they would give me 10 minutes to get the money together or they would clamp and tow my car adding hundreds onto the £475 bill. I received no breakdown of what the charges were for is this amount normal? I rang a relative and borrowed the money as they said they were about to clamp the car. They also told me that if I drove the car it would be flagged up by the police and I would be stopped?
I am now after being very intimidated by them (my 4 daughters saw the whole thing!) Im now wondering if this was right? Can anyone help?
I don't know how I am going to repay this money as I am on a very low income.
Any advice please? is there anything i can do now this has been paid? complain or claim any money back if overcharged? i feel stupid now for paying, but i was scared and they had blocked me in and only gave me 10 minutes to pay, so no time to see if this was correct.
thank you if you can help me

Get yourself over to bailiffadviceonline.
I believe it costs a tenner but do not be put off, register and you will get the best, quick advice about these 'bailiffs' and may well be able to claim some of this money back. I am nothing to do with that site BTW, I just know how it has helped other posters like you.
If you can't manage a tenner yet, make a start by registering on a free forum called pepipoo here:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
Copy & paste your post above into a new topic there, it's free and they have a lot of info. But at the end of the day I think bailiffadvice online may be the ones to help you most in reclaiming some money if you can.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Second Bailiffadviceonline and pepipoo. Strange the number of bailiff queries we get these days when the op has appealed and they have not been contacted again. What is going on with councils.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

They are staffed by people who would not last five minutes in the private sector.0 -
