HelloWe're also suffering from our balinese scratching the stairs in our new home and the top of the sofa. We are going to try tacking some old carpet onto some wood and spraying with cat nip, that seems to be the best advice we've had. Tried citrus sprays with no success. Also trying the spraying with water thing but as we're not in all day it has limited effect. Good luck with it, I'll watch this post with interest to see if we can get any tips too. Pink Pixie

Just after we redecorated our cat decided to leave his scent via his claws on our new wallpaper. A few squirts and a loud 'no' when we caught him certainly put him off
The catnip works a treat too. We'd tried it before when he was a kitten but he never noticed it. It still makes me laugh that we spray it on his scratching post and he can be upstairs and be down within seconds looking all dewy eyed, haha.
