For your own sake thicken your skin. Few average people live in Miss Buckets standards, at least not for long after the tidy up, but agents are rightly concerned if a bit of dust starts to build up and then up and up, items are being " hoarded" and can be a sign of the start of a decline.
There is a risk of that being a cost to the landlord and the agent has to err on the side of caution, upsetting and insulting as that might be. Still if its a bit dusty to heck with what they think, why not make it a nice clean house for your benefit.
Contractors. Refuse to contact the contractor the answer being they will only accept instructions from them.. Confirm the request
and if they do not act then threaten to do it yourself and take it out the rent as "set off"
Damages Confirm that the damages outside have been noted by them.
Locks: Don't change the locks...remind the agent of the clause to notify you of access and insist that that is held to, emergencies aside, and then decide if changing the lock is required.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold"; if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn0
