that's how i interpreted 'get' too.
as for that machine - blimey, i didn't even know that existed! but the expense!! i don't know if i can stretch to that on top of the other expense. my cassettes are of great emotional value to me, but perhaps i do not have enough of them to justify this expense.0 -
The ion Tape express is the easiest. But if you already have a tape player then a 3.5mm jack to jack lead and the FREE program Audacity will do just fine. The ion tape player is just a tape player at the end of the dayMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I wonder if the likes of this

plus this

would allow you to record just audio on the PC
(unless you already have a line in?)
assuming you have a player to play the cassettes on
incidently i found my old walkman just the other day
with a mix tape inside
god the sound quality sucks!0 -
In that case you are either very lucky or have cloth ears. Print through is common with tapes stored for any length of time regardless of storage conditions. Considering the low quality of cassette tapes MP3 is plenty good enough.Hogwash. I've got cassettes I recorded in the 1970s which are still perfectly playable. Keep them clean and dry, and they're fine.
As to why I haven't digitised them - there's too many, not enough time, and when I do digitise them, I certainly won't be doing so as mp3 files.............0 -

How much do you want to spend on your CD/Cass/FM/DAB/iPod all-in-one?
What do you have already?0 -

I don't think I'm particularly lucky, but I have taken care to store them clean and dry at all times.
Print-through, whilst it may affect some of them, doesn't affect the overall sound quality, and I haven't found it overly common, with a collection running to over 2000 tapes. How many have you had?
I don't consider I have 'cloth ears' - my ears tell me that mp3 is certainly not good enough. If I am digitising, it's to FLAC at 16/44 or 24/96 for me....0 -
Personally I find anything about 240kbs pretty good in mp3 format. Ive got a good cd player and i cant tell the difference between that and flac (or WAV come to that). Also if you are putting them onto an ipod the quality is reduced quite a lot.
Cant the OP buy a cd/DAB/mp3 player with an aux input, then buy a cheap cassette player to plug into that? Pure looks like they make a decent one for around £230.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Thanks for that, the videos have just been gathering dust.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
