Sony-CMT-EH55DAB-CD-DAB-Radio-Cassette-Mini-System Has a USB connection rather than the ubiquitous IPlayer dock but should do the trick.

All the more reason to digitise them to MP3s then - apart from not being able to buy players much longer (if you can now) the media itself deteriorates badly over time to the point of being useless.

Hogwash. I've got cassettes I recorded in the 1970s which are still perfectly playable. Keep them clean and dry, and they're fine.

As to why I haven't digitised them - there's too many, not enough time, and when I do digitise them, I certainly won't be doing so as mp3 files.............

Is there such a thing as a cd player/casette player/ipod dock/fm-DAB radio all in one?

The Sony CMT-EH20DAB almost gets there, but I don't know if they still make it.

Has everything you ask for except the iPod dock, but it does have Audio In, so we have one with a outboard Cambridge Audio Dock plugged into this.

I had lots of cassettes but ditched them when a superior and more convenient format came around so whats the point of trying to source a machine that has cassete when in real terms its far easier to simply get the music in a more up to date format

You're presuming that what they have on the cassettes is actually commercially available in another format.

    am I?
theres plenty of ways to get audio off cassettes and onto a PC
one time job and you have the files to use on various hardware
far more sensible than clinging onto ancient tech
  • yup, it's not so complicated! why would i want cassettes? well, apart from the fact i have compilations i was given as a teenager, i also have cassettes bought on travels which have music that cannot be found anywhere else - at least not anywhere i have managed to find it.

i do not know how to digitise things - why the irritated tone?

thanks to everyone for the suggestions so far... if you use the usb thingy one of you mentioned, how does that work?

Or any equivalent. I googled tape to digital converter. I am sure someone more intelligent will come up with a £2 cable which will do the job equally well :)

OK, I interpreted the 'get' in "its far easier to simply get the music in a more up to date format" as a 'buy' or 'obtain' context, rather than you meaning 'get them converted' .....

    Why is that difficult?

    Toshiba at £70

Panasonic DVD/HDD/VHS from £300 or so, as I recall.....
