3 PAYG gives you these prices to those countries, otherwise skype on a compatible smartphone is a good idea but you will have to be on either 3 or vodafone to be able to use skype on 3G as the other networks block it unless you are on wifi.

Nothing ? what gave you the idea they were doing it for charity.:D You use your inclusive minutes to call your access number but you pay for them to connect you to your destination. Its a prepaid a/c and the credit runs out after 60 days, and they deduct the 1p a minute call costs from it as you go.

http://www.localphone.com/call/ireland offer a similar sort of thing via a local geographical 01/02 number and only charge 0.8p a minute and you can top up for as little as £1.

If you want a post paid a/c have a look at http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php via there 020 number 2p a minute 5p connection.

1899 slightly cheaper to use via its 020 no. than its 18185 sister (1p a minute and 5p connection to Ireland).

interesting they must have only recently allowed skype calling over 3G,
all networks allow skype IM chat, but all apart from 3 and voda had blocked voip on 3G.

what phone do you have that allows skype, if I may ask?

  • Hi, sorry to interfere @ ALL.
my nan has recently moved back to her home country and my mum would like to phone her everyday but phone calling cards are v expensive so my uncles have asked if I could send them over a skype mobile phone.
I am now looking for a cheap basic SKYPE installed mobile phone. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

'nan', 'mum' and 'uncles' - all this is very confusing, isn't it?
Where will the phone be used - in UK or in the 'home country'? On 3g or on WiFi?
