i agree the smell and taste of all homegrown veg and fruit is far better than anything you can buy, even if the shapes are a bit weird at times!!!0

If you planted them out this spring/ summer, they are best picked next spring. They won't grow much over winter, but will thicken up quickly when the weather gets better next year and you should have a good harvest. Mine are only just thicker than pencils at the moment. Make sure that you don't wait too long into next spring though as they will bolt when it gets too warm for them.0

I was advised by old timer on allotment site to plant them deep to avoid having to mount them up later and this I do. I have finished eating the earlies and now started on the lates , very nice they are too.0 -
Planted mine in pots in August and they're doing great - will have to pull them soon.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
