Most of the ones on the allotments seem to be growing well.
Never grown them myself.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've tried them for the first time this year - musselburgh grown in containers and they've been quite good. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Mine are looking good I pulled a few last week as they were 'in the way'.
When did you plant them?
I sowed my seeds in mid-February but due to lack of space only planted them out in July. Think they would have been better if I'd got round to planting in June.
There seems to be a lot of leek rust at our lotty this year which could be causing growth problems0 -
Mine went in quite late and won't get any bigger than baby leeks. I keep telling myself that that's ultra fashionable!0

It's been a bad year for quite a lot of us on the lottie, majority seem to had a caterpillar of some kind and very bad rust. Out of 30 odd leeks I will only have about 6.MFI3 T3 # 750

Ours haven't grown very fat but since I didn't thin them out, it's my fault. In another patch, some of them disappeared.0

I had some cracking leeks......then every single one of them bolted.
Shame.0 -
One of mine has bolted in last few days hope it's not the first of many..... Need the leeks to keep something to harvest after Christmas!0

I always plant mine out late as I don't have the space before end of August. They're starting to thicken up now, and should keep me going until around next April. I have done the same the last two years and it seems to work for me down here in Kent!0

we pulled one last week, it was lovely, but,for a wacking great plant I only ended up with about 6 inches of leek after chopping off the the ends.
apparently we should have moulded the soil around the roots (?) anyhoo will leave the rest in the ground for a bit longer and see what happens (first go for us)
Gosh don't they smell good unlike shop bought ones.
