smear results :(

I think it's really good that posts like this pop up every now and then and people are happy to share their experiences.
In May this year I had my first smear which came back abnormal. Fast forward to today and after months of absolute stress and worry I've now had the all clear following my treatment.
There are forums out there that provide a lot of information (Jo's Trust is recommended) but at the same time it is scary as there are a lot of women on there who are having to deal with some horrible things.
It's nice when threads like this come up which highlights that it is actually something which quite a lot of women face at some point in their life but actually, for most women everything is handled quickly and doesn't progress to anything serious. When you're going through this for the first time it helps to read threads like this and not the ones where things have gone downhill.0 -
I'm 26, had 7 smears and haven't had a 'normal' result yet! I was lucky enough to turn 20 the month before they put the age of your first smear up to 25. Every result has been 'borderline.' A family friend is a GP specialising in all stuff to do with 'down there' and he totally put my mind at rest about it, he said at my age, there's changes happening all the time, and its nothing to worry about at all usually. I moved house recently to a new NHS trust area and had 2 borderline results within 6 months so they sent me for a colposcopy. They didn't find anything
They were going to send for me for another colposcopy 6 months after, which would be about now, but I'm 4 months pregnant
But I know how I felt the first time I got the letter, its really scary, but try not to worry. I know its easier to say than do! I'll keep my fingers crossed! 0 -

I'm having my first colposcopy on Thursday. I was really shocked when my appointment came through a week ago (but also really impressed as it was 3 days after I got my abnormal result!). Now the news has had time to sink in I'm much calmer about it. I'm trying not to think the worst and trying to take comfort that I'm now 'in the programme' for regular smears for some years to come! Thank you to those of you who shared your experiences, it has helped me.0
