Why dont you ask the JC, they do let job seekers do some courses but im not sure on the requirements the job seeker eneeds to fulfill
  • Have you asked the college why they will not fund it? how are you funding your current course, with first level 2 remission?

yes and my next level 3 will be my first level 3 i dont know why they dont fund it its just goverment rules on the funds im not really sure its just like a extra choice to choose on top of the major course. i was hoping the jobcentre maybe could but i have been told that they have stopped hairdressing courses wich seems strange because if i do the barbering course i could be looking for a job after 10 weeks . i might try princess trust does any one know if they would help? i want to get off benefits i need a job its been nearly 2 years now but stuck at mo because need to do experiance in a salon 1 day a week so thats why i thought if i do this barber course then get a job a get experiance and a job all in 1
  • yes and my next level 3 will be my first level 3 i dont know why they dont fund it its just goverment rules on the funds where the funding is limited, getting people to their 1st level 2 is first priority im not really sure its just like a extra choice to choose on top of the major course. i was hoping the jobcentre maybe could but i have been told that they have stopped hairdressing courses wich seems strange - there are so many qualified hairdressers in some areas they are off the list for free training - all to do with Local Labour market Intelligence, they will see how many jobs are going for each type of industry and focus fudning for training on the ones where there is a lack of qualified people. because if i do the barbering course i could be looking for a job after 10 weeks . i might try princess trust does any one know if they would help? i want to get off benefits i need a job its been nearly 2 years now but stuck at mo because need to do experiance in a salon 1 day a week so thats why i thought if i do this barber course then get a job a get experiance and a job all in 1

If you have/are going to pass NVQ Level 2 hairdressing, can you progress onto an advanced apprenticeship which will do NVQ level 3?

yes but i couldnt afford to that as im a single mum on benefits so i would not earn enough money to cover childcare costs etc and i would not be entitiled to jsa or income support if on apprenticeship and the apprenticeship would take a further 2 years longer than if i did it in college its just not viable and they dont fund course just based on what jobs are needed they only fund now for maths or english or if you study over 16 hours a week the rules are very complicated and confusing

and im not doing nvq its a vrq its the new qulification for adult learners so yes im doing level 2 but its only the same as a nvq level 1 even though im learning nvq level 2 stuff and when i do the level 3 course its on the same level as a nvq2.

Get your points on income though, might be worth talking to them,
