  • I'm thinking of ignoring them too... yet these are court threats I think and not 100% sure what to do.

I could write back as for evidence. r

I'm still reading consumer action group websites and forums...

The advice seems simple - ignore it until you are legally obliged to participate in conversation with them.... they disappear.

They are not genuine court threats. Read the letter carefully, I'm sure they will use words like we 'may' or 'possibly result' in action taken against you.

    They are scare tactics.

The best advice is not to enter into ANY correspondence with them at all, otherwise they will just continue to hound you.

Only take action in the VERY highly unlikely event that you are issued genuine court papers.

I have to say that if anyone actually pays OPC - knowing about OPC's Court case where they were found guilty of criminal offences this year - they would surely have more money than sense.

Obviously ignore it all in the absence of Court papers and if OPC are stupid enough to try another Small Claims Court case they are easily spanked.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It appears someone at OPC has been watching one too many episodes of 'New Tricks' and set up a Cold Cases Squad.

    New Tricks? - Certainly!

Same old bull****? - Most definately!

    Triple underlined IGNORE

hmmm... just received a letter/fine from OPC saying that on 02/10/2010 (yes.. about a year ago!!) that I overstayed my welcome on a retail park in Telford.

the retail park has a 5 hour limit (i've never stayed on that place for more than a couple of hours!!)

Anyway, as a goodwill gesture they'll let me off with a £90 fine if I pay within 7 days... otherwise it's £100/take me to court.

I assume I'm filing this in the kitchen bin and ignoring their asses?

looks like a standard letter where they say they have "photographic evidence"... shall I ask for the photographs? or will this just make them write more often?

    thanks

Yo Dad!! My daughter has also just received one of these mailshots from OPC!

They tried a scamming series of letters early this year after stating that a car registered in my daughters name "overstayed" on the car parks by CarpetRight.

I responded and asked them for proof of the driver as the vehicle was not owned by my daughter and was used by multiple drivers, no reponse, just a series of begging letters, that got increasingly nasty. Photos were sent along with threats of imminent court actions.

OPC have still not, in spite of being asked, provided proof of the driver. A murky photo shot that could be the car is not proof! I had heard nothing for 9 months and as you say, it looks as if the Computers are running a mailshot....

I will put their letter in the growing file for fire lighting purposes now that winter has come....

Latest letter received today says "we will very shortly be starting CCP against you". They then went on to give the reasons they consider they have a case...

I wonder if any of the correspondence sent to them would ever appear in Court if it it got there..?
