Anyone any ideas what this could be.
The only sockets to the side are the four pin type that provide power to Hard drives and a 'D'type 9 pin connector.
There is a dinky little 20 Gig hard drive which I' am hoping to connect up and search the contents before wiping.
Just wondered if anyone could throw some light on it before i get my monkey wrench out?

Another view here.
Also, does the HArd Drive get it's power from the multiconnector?
At the mo I can't see any power in socket?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
looks like a computer0

I would guess that it's some kind of processor controlled dedicated display driver. The large black connector would probably drive the display matrix etc. See what if anything you can recover from the hard drive. Keep us informed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

The connector i marked with a yellow circle looks like a cga/mda/ega/vga 9 pin video connector.
and if you plug a molex connector into the connector marked with a red circle it should provide power.

Sorry about making all of your windows HUGE btw:)
Well Just connected the HD up and among the items listed in the Start menu are 'Touch Screen' Drivers which suggest just that.
Probably from a bank, perhaps?
It has Windows 98 installed on the dinky little seagate 20Gig and I would say that it has been assembled very professionally.
Just copied this from one of the text documentsMonitorMouse for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME

whats in the program files directory?
and look in windows\temp0 -
Other than a Multi Meter I don't have any test equipment or a molex connector(When it's at home) so will not be able to tell if it is working or not and all I can do is rob the HD and use it as a portable drive, or Ebay it:)
I have no idea if the rest of it is valuable.
I'm about to look at the board under that huge heat-sink to see if that will throw some light on the processor but since it is from c1999, I can't imagine that it'll be much to get excited about."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

Nothing much in the temp directory other than a list of deleted files but in the progs directory is a program called 'TWISTER' which appears to be something to do with display. (The main application is titled S3SETVGA)"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
